NASUM was the undisputed leader of grindcore's second wave and nothing proves
this more than 'Doombringer'; a blistering 25 minute live set of untapped rage
recorded in Osaka, Japan on the bands final Japanese tour. The unflinching brutality
and top-flight musicianship of the 16 songs and the accompanying video for 'Scoop'
more than documents that fact. Simply stated, 'Doombringer' proves why
NASUM set the standard for grindcore in the 21st century.

The Final Album
This is most likely the last album released by Swedish grindcore legends, Nasum. It's the audio from their concert in Osaka, Japan recorded during their last tour of that country in 2004 before the death of singer/guitarist Mieszko Talarczyk. Also included on the cd is a video of the song "scoop".
I've found that many live recordings lack a quality mix to the point of being a muddied-up mess, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that the sound mix on this recording was actually very good. The vocals and instruments are blended together very well without any one of them being overpowering.
The most amazing aspect of this recording is the prowess of the musicians. As a long time fan of Nasum, I'm quite used to their brutally fast music. What's amazing is that they were apparently even faster live. They fly through 16 songs with a staggering velocity comparable to the speed needed to escape the earth's gravitational pull, and deliver that music with a crushing force equal to a nuclear bomb. This album is the musical equivalent to smoking four hits of meth and then taking a Ferrari Enzo for a drive into a brick wall while wearing lead soled boots. It's really fast and damn near explosive.
If you're looking at this album, then you're probably already a fan of Nasum and you don't need my puny review to convince you to buy it. But if you're one of those people who just can't commit to anything without assurances from others, then you have mine. It's the last album by what might be the greatest grindcore band in the world. Buy it!
holy cow!
Nasum is a heavy grindcore band. listening to this is akin to riding an SR-71 without the special suit. it is too bad that the lead vocalist, Mieszko A. Talarzyk, met his demise in the 2004 tsunami disaster that hit Asia. Nasum's spirit will live on in Coldworker. awesome.
