Album Description
Hatchet's debut 2008 album, Awaiting Evil, is where the band has vowed to wage war on false metal, sparing none who dare to oppose them. When Hatchet emerged, the Bay area scene was not very welcoming to their trash sound. Thrash had become a forgotten musical form in the bay area. Driven and determined, they adopted the D.I.Y. ethic reminiscent of the punk rock style common in the early 80's. Hatchet played anywhere and everywhere they could - bars, house parties, local venues like the Pound SF, Balazo Gallery, 924 Gilman Street, and various warehouses located in desolate, crime ridden areas of Oakland, California.
Customer Reviews
Metal the way its supposed to be...
the first blast of guitar and drum from Hatchet's Awaiting Evil immediately took me back to 1988 or so, when speed metal/thrash was really awesome.
Hatchet has everything. Fast drums, pounding bass lines, and intricate guitar guitar work and awesome vocals.
The album is a little on the short side, at 40+ minutes, but it is a 40 minutes well spent!
For fans of old school speed metal, like Metallica circa Kill 'Em All.
heavy neo-thrash band
these guy have alot of talent and the sound extremely reminecant of older bay are thrash bands(forbidden, metalchurch, defiance, testament, heathen, and vio-lence)they really seem to play a old school style the riffs and hooks but not rip off styled thrash.
Killer Thrash Metal
This album makes it feel like 1985 all over again. Awesome Metal. If you like Slayer get this album.
