Metal Feast
Feast for the Hated is album number six from Bay Area thrashers Imagika, and it is an absolute MONSTER of a metal album. If the members of Testament, Mercenary, Nevermore, and Iced Earth (or maybe just Matt Barlow) locked themselves in a room for a year, this is the album they would emerge with. Start with the basic thrash foundation, add rapid-fire drumming and harsh vocals, throw in some Halford-esque clean vocals and just enough melody to keep it accessible, and you have a general idea of what Imagika has managed to conjure with this amazing release.
Feast for the Hated is an album that can go toe to toe with the best modern thrash albums, and can hold it's own against some extreme metal and more aggressive power metal albums as well. For those of us who are into all three styles of metal, it's like a perfect storm of wickedly fast, fiercely powerful, and astonishingly heavy metal.
Like a plunge into icy water, Feast for the Hated is the kind of metal album that shocks you into putting aside those upbeat power metal and brainy prog albums for a while. Once you hear it, only fierce and furious METAL will do. Between this album and the latest offerings by Eminence and Figure of Six, Locomotive Records is serving up some extremely intense new metal these days.
