If you've never heard Burzum before...
Then this is the cd to start with. Great compilation from a great band. If you already own their albums then don't bother. Nothing new on here. Good intro for the interested, Great collection for the casual fan.

False Information
Just so you're aware, Burzum is NOT a Swedish band. It is a Norwegian one-man band created by Varg Vikernes during the early "Second Wave" of black metal.

Anything that is from Burzum's earlier years (1991-1996) is his best stuff. The two albums that came later in 1997 and 1999 are all synthesizer/keyboard Ambient stuff he released while incarcerated (because he didn't have access to anything else). Nobody particularly likes Burzum's early vocals, hence the reason the "Filosofem" album has become quintessential listening for anybody who wants to see what early black metal had to offer. But Burzum is known to be "evening music", so you'll find that on all his albums, the first couple tracks are actual compositions whereas the later tracks become more drone and ambient.
