Product Description

Formed in 2003, Atlanta s WITHERED rose from members of the grindcore/crust punk band social infestation, with a yearning to
explore extreme music and create something with black metal overtones and dramatic guitar melodies while still clinging to their
punk and grind roots.

Needing an unrelenting percussion force to accomplish this, the band called upon long time friend and accomplished drummer Wes Kever. The three piece began writing, all the while unraveling the enigma of the greater picture WITHERED would later become. After a few songs, the band realized it was time to find the bassist that could fill out WITHERED's sound and audibly obliterate their listeners. Calling upon Greg Hess, the former bassist for leechmilk, he was known for pummeling his instrument and his menacing sludgy background helped shape what would become WITHERED as it is today. Completing the band s 5 song EP Order Born From Chaos late in 2004, the work spun the wheels into motion, gaining tremendous momentum and praise. In April 2005, WITHERED inked a deal with Lifeforce Records, to record addition songs for the would-be EP, evolving the works into Memento Mori, featuring artwork by Paul Romano (Mastodon, Nasum, Trivium), yielding high praise throughout the world for its intense stylings and sophisticated arrangements, carving WITHERED a permanent position among top acts in extreme music.

In the fall of 2006, the band recruited Mike Longoria to fill in for local and regional shows but ultimately became a permanent member, along with drummer Beau Brandon, solidifying the line-up that would record Folie Circulaire, WITHERED s latest opus. Again featuring artwork from Romano and a devastating mix courtesy of Phillip Cope (Baroness, Black Tusk, Kylesa), Folie Circulaire marks another notch into the legacy of WITHERED s history, further cementing the band s place among bands in extreme music continuing to push the boundaries of the genre.

Review
It doesn t get much dirtier than Withered s Dirty South take on extreme sludge...The Atlanta quartet mixes dense, lurching doom with pummeling blast beats, crafting songs that are as bleak and fraught with palpable tension as a blackened tornado funnel cloud on a distant horizon. --Revolver magazine

Review
Folie Circulaire is a CD that should have a pretty wide appeal. Fans of black, death, doom and a few other genres can find something they like on this album. It's a very well done effort that runs that gamut from highly technical to sloppy and sludgy and everything in between. --About.com

If I could give it 10 stars on here, would rate it 11!!!5
Have you ever heard a band that was attempting to blend different types of metal together and the result was choppy, unblended, out-of-place, and contrived, like the band tried to hard to be creative? like they had no creativity at all and instead just emulated there influences and put their name on it, mistaking brilliance with immitation? I metal, this happens more often than not (I won't be cruel enough to name any names).

Well, Withered is the polar antithesis of those failed bands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Theirs is brilliance and sophistication, sleekness, agility and dramatic Harshness! Post-Hardcore meets Blackened Death fury played with Technical complication. These guys are sick!

They truely transcend any label other than Extreme Metal! Black Metal is present, Tech/Death Metal....present, Post-Hardcore...present! Doom/Sludge......present! Deathcore/Grindcore.....present! The tempo ranges from doom slow to grind fast, the vokills are sparse with death and black overtones, the strings are tech (especially the bass actually). The guitars are all over the place without sounding confused, black atmospheres and domm-laden and Not every kind of metal is represented here, but I can't imagine it any different!

I have heard many CD's lately, and this one stands out and stands alone! I would call it the future of metal, but I'm not too certain very many bands can produce the same divers level of art. My ultimate recommendation.....Don't hesitate!

Also, if you loved the old Black Horde Weakling, This could have been the follow up to their only release "Dead as Dreams", which is one of the best Black Metal records ever (or Metal in general)! And slightly comparable to Krallice, another amazing new example of the bar raising ever higher, and another record to check out if you haven't already!

Can't wait to see them live w/ Marduk, Cephalic Carnage, and Mayhem.

STONER METAL3
FOLLIE CIRCULAIRE IS STONER FRIENDLY HEAVY ALBUM BY AN OTHERWISE DECENT METAL BAND! IF YOU ARE GETTING INTO WITHERED FOR THE FIRST TIME TRY SOMETHING ELSE BEFORE YOU TRY THIS ALBUM. FOLLIE CIRCULAIRE IS A TRIPPY STONER LIKE ALBUM VERY HEAVY IN GUITAR WORK, ALLL OTHER ASPECTS OF THIS ALBUM PRETTY MUCH SUCKS. I WOULD BUY THIS ALBUM FOR COLLECTION PURPOSES ONLY.
