Editorial Reviews

Album Description
The epic and grandiose musical landscape of the new God Forbid album proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that this group have paved a new path out from the stagnant metalcore scene and the future looks to be a very bright one. The stunning new effort, Earthsblood, blends together the perfect amount of brutality, melodies and utter catchiness against a wall of sonic excess and pummeling groove-laden riffs.

This is an entirely new God Forbid that have matured beyond their years and are now more focused than ever before. The depth and diversity showcased on this new album is easily going to position them as of one the most innovative bands within the genre.

Customer Reviews

Its been 3.5 years but its been worth the wait5
First off I should mention that this CD set justifies its already low price tag with the 2nd CD alone. The 2nd CD, whose tracks have not been listed, is a live set from the Starland Ballroom. As I said, this CD alone was worth the price. The track list is great, reminding people that while God Forbid's sound has changed a bit over the years, its been a matter of progression & evolution, not selling out or losing creativity. Far from it. The sound quality is excellent, and most importantly, the songs sound incredible live, possibly better than the studio versions in some ways. (raw energy, etc)

That being said, the new material is excellent. It took a little time to get into one or two songs, but that's neither a complaint or a criticism. I was hoping for some songs along the lines of Broken Promise and Crucify Your Beliefs (though The New Clear comes very close)

On a side note, the album art is great. A little too much Photoshop in the liner notes, but the cover itself is great.

This is DEFINITELY worth an immediate purchase. Don't download it unless you're getting the live set as well. If the live set isn't included then just buy the CD set. Its a few bucks more, but well worth the investment.

Great, great album5

This is Definitely going to be one of the best metal albums of 2009. Very good song writing, cool riffs and good vocals. The highlights for me are the epic title song and the song named 'Gaia (The Vultures)'.

Highly recommended for metalcore and melodic death metal fans.

best yet!5
this album just shows how much more then metal genre can expand and progress. god forbid has the talent of putting feeling and emotion into metal. at the same time, they keep the songs progressive and artistic.

i always thought progression in metal would solely come from the instruments, but this album shows just how much the vocal melodies can really make a great song better. dallas' singing really adds a symphonic element to the songs.

as always doc coyle's solos are epic and memorable.

my favorite song right now is probably "walk alone" and "empire of the gun."

check out [....]review. they gave it 9.5 out of 10.
