More of the same, but this album has better sound-quality. The songs are slow, majestic and powerful. I am amazed that this album still sounds so fresh even after 18 years ! Very few bands can make such a claim.

This is a folk-metal band from Finland, they successfully combine folk and metal. Their songs are usually about drinking and such, with titles like 'vodka' and 'happy little boozer'. Their music is not serious, it's fun, well-made and entertaining. All their albums sound very similar so I wont list them all.

Not sure if this is technically 'metal', but together with Serenades it's their two best albums...'Angelica' has to be one of the best songs I've ever heard.

French band, very energetic, solid and powerful sound. Excellent album.

Swiss band that combines deathmetal with folk elements: flute, violins etc. They manage to stay deathmetal even though they have these folk-bits. Energetic and atmospheric music. I like all their albums.

Irish band that also started out as black metal, they switched to Pagan-metal instead. Except for one song, there's no screeching vocals anymore just clean singing. The music still sounds like blackmetal, like the slower Satyricon songs, but combined with this is alot of acoustic and atmospheric parts. It's a very solid album, some slow songs some fast.

Swedish deathmetal, this is their best album, classic Scandinavian deathmetal. 'Dreamin in red' has to one of the best deathmetal songs ever made.

Greek orchestral and occult deathmetal with songs based on mythology. I wanted to list their earlier albums like 'esoptron' but they are ridiculously expensive here so there's little point in listing them. But this album is very similar to the older ones, I didn't like 'Communion' much.

Death metal from the Netherlands, this was a ground-breaking album that combined deathmetal with jazz-inspired progressive parts. It's a really intelligent album, the songs deal with Jungian psychology. Not everyone likes this album, but it's my most frequently played deathmetal album, it never gets old or boring.

Another Swedish band, this album is how I'd like to remember Katatonia, melodic doom-like metal.

Polish death metal, their first and best album, old-school death metal.

Classic British doom metal band, great album, while they still had some deathmetal influences.

Another Italian band, they play SUPER-heavy metal, so if you like a powerful base-sound you'll like these guys.

Dutch deathmetal legends, this is their new album, it's actually very good.

German deathmetal, I really like this album, they went away from their old-school sound to a more industrial and technical sound. One of my favorite deathmetal albums. The lyrics are also abit more "intelligent" than what you would normally encounter in deathmetal, they deal more with personal and societal issues.
