My top release of 2007. If you like your Black Metal blistering fast and brutal as hell, then you will love this record. The vocal work on this one is breath taking.

Chaos in its purest form. Hard to describe the sound on this record but one thing is for sure, it is pure evil!

Blackend Death Metal. If you have yet to listen to this record, I recommend you give it a shot. It will blow your mind.

I usually pefer the Swedish when it comes to my Death Metal but this American band created a great release.

This album has changed my negative outlook on the American Black Metal scene. This is one hell of an record. Most American Black Metal bands stick to the more atmospherical or depressive side of the Black Metal spectrum. This release includes some interludes that would fall under those heading but the majority of the album is just good old blistering Black Metal.

I discovered this treat of an album 5 months into 2008. Benighted play a similar style of Death Metal to that of "Aborted". The vocals switch from DEEP grunts to shrieks and all over the vocal spectrum. This is a Death Metal album you do not want to miss.

Melodic Death Metal. In a sub genere that seems to be spawning more and more crap every year, this was a breath of fresh air. Even more surprising is that they are from the States!

I will go on record and say that I am a huge fan of Naglfar. Their brand of Melodic Black Metal just rules!

I really enjoyed this release from Corpsegrinder and company. If you like Cannibal Corpse but wished they threw in a little more Mid-Paced Death Metal stomps, then this is the band for you.

You won't hear as much Black Metal in this release compared to lets say Ordo Ad Chao. But beleive when I say this is one hell of a Black Metal record.

Symphonic Black Metal done right. I really enjoyed this release.

I finally picked this release up a couple of months ago. What a brillant slab of modern Death Metal. When I say "Modern" I don't mean that Deathcore crap 90% of American bands try to pass off as Death Metal these days. I mean a new, cleaner approach to the core elements that make up Death Metal.

Just like Entombed, this is another old school band releasing new material to show all the new kids in town how Death Metal is supposed to sound. Great release

A brilliant and violent mix of Death and Black Metal.

Experimental Black Metal. At times it reminds me of what Meshuggah would sound like if they had a better vocalist.

The long awaited release from the Black Metal Elite. I understand that Black Metal is not supposed to have the best production value but damn guys, really?

Modern Death Metal. Great overall album that will keep your head banging through the whole thing. Check it out!

This is one of the few Gothic bands that really appeal to me. They have a great heavy, almost thrashy feel to them. Most of the vocals on this release are your typical deeper Gothic style, but these guys also throw in some almost Black Metal shrieks here and there. This helps to add some real depth to the songs. Check it out!
