![]() | The Wake of Magellan by Savatage
Buy new: $12.99 / Used from: $5.36 The best Sava album to date! If you claim to like guitar oriented rock, and don't own this, your collection is incomplete my friend! Al Pitrelli and Chris Caffery can serve it up as good as anyone!
![]() | Dead Winter Dead by Savatage
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $3.73 My runner up to the best! DWD has more symphonic elements than the above, but still rocks! A concept album about the war in Bosnia.
![]() | Poets & Madmen by Savatage
Buy used from: $6.28 This is just a fun album to listen to! It's very heavy, and just rocks out from start to finish! Al Pitrelli doesn't play on this one, but Mr. Caffery takes up the slack with the greatest of ease!
![]() | Edge of Thorns by Savatage
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $3.04 Chris Oliva's last album with Savatage before he passed away. This is a great all around album, and a great place to start exploring this band...highly recommended!
![]() | Handful of Rain by Savatage
Buy used from: $2.94 Alex Skolnick, Testament, sat in for the guitar duties on this one. With that in mind, this is a blues based, but very heavy Savatage album. This makes for a unique album for them.
![]() | Streets: A Rock Opera by Savatage
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $3.49 Jon Oliva considers this album their peak, but I disagree. The song, Streets, has one of the darkest sounding choruses I have ever heard! Great album!
![]() | Christmas Eve and Other Stories by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $6.00 Christmas with Savatage, and they've invited some friends! This is the TSO masterpiece! Essential stuff here!
![]() | The Christmas Attic by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Buy new: $9.49 / Used from: $5.73 The second TSO album, and just as good! The instrumentals are strong, and the story picks up where the first CD left off.
![]() | Beethoven's Last Night by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $9.94 The latest TSO effort, minus the holiday theme. Beethoven has a great storyline, and the music hits hard in the right spots!
![]() | Ghost in the Ruins - A Tribute to Criss Oliva by Savatage
Buy used from: $8.90 I'm not big on live albums, but this will make you appreciate how tight these guys can play live! I hope to see the Sava boys live sometime soon!
![]() | The Lost Christmas Eve by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $6.64 The TSO Crew has not dissappointed with their new effort! If the TSO Christmas Trilogy doesn't put you in the Xmas mood, nothing will! Highly recommended!
![]() | Hall of the Mountain King by Savatage
Buy new: $12.99 / Used from: $4.28 No Sava collection is complete without this one! This is where all the good stuff started! This is where the symphonic/metal elements came in and have stayed ever since.
![]() | Japan Live '94 by Savatage
Buy used from: $7.44 This live album is better to listen to if you're more into the current stuff. Alex Skolnick, ex-Testament, stands in for the loss of Criss Oliva. The production is unbelievable on this live effort!
![]() | Fight for the Rock by Savatage
Don't let anyone lead you to believe this isn't a good album! Even Savatage cuts on it for cryin' out loud! IT'S NOT GLAM! It's more 70's hard rock than anything! Get it, if you're a true fan!
![]() | Sirens by Savatage
Buy used from: $25.54 Savatage's first album, and a rocker at that! Criss Oliva will blow you away on this one! Criss really shines on Sirens!
![]() | Tage Mahal by Jon Oliva's Pain
Buy new: $17.98 / Used from: $4.39 Jon's debut solo effort, and he's getting back to his Siren's roots! If you like your Savatage more traditional than progressive, then check out Tage Mahal. Jon has made a very cool cd here!
![]() | Doctor Butcher by Doctor Butcher
Buy used from: $11.98 BRUTAL, ABSOLUTLY BRUTAL! This is a side project from Jon Oliva and Chris Caffery recorded in the early 90's. Chris Caffery's best work is on this two disc set! Just get it!
![]() | Power of the Night by Savatage
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $3.59 Power of the Night was the bands 3rd effort, and not their best. I wouldn't recommend starting off here, because the band has matured so much since then.
![]() | Dungeons Are Calling by Savatage
Buy used from: $19.74 Dungeons Are Calling is the band's 2nd effort, and like Power, I wouldn't start off here. Again, the band has matured by leaps and bounds!
![]() | Maniacal Renderings by Jon Oliva's Pain
Buy new: $28.98 / Used from: $9.38 This is Jon's early Fall 2006 solo release. Again, the music is in the vein of old school Savatage. The opener "Through The Eyes of the King" is the "THOTMK" follow up song. Very, very cool indeed!
![]() | Watching in Silence by Circle II Circle
Buy new: $17.49 / Used from: $11.00 This is Zak Stevens' band after he left Savatage. Watching In Silence is the band's debut and the place to start. The music is in the vein of Savatage, but not as epic. Out Of Reach is the highlight song from this disc.
![]() | The Middle of Nowhere by Circle II Circle
Buy new: $37.99 / Used from: $16.99 CIIC's sophomore effort and a little less like Savatage, but still has that flair. The band experimented with more of a modern sound here, but don't let that scare you away. The Middle of Nowhere has all the elements for a great melodic metal effort.
![]() | Burden of Truth by Circle II Circle
The band's latest and greatest thus far. Burden of Truth is a concept album along the lines of the DeVinci Code. The music flows nicely and you can tell that Zak and co. have developed their own sound by now. With that said, it still sounds Savaesque.
![]() | Faces/W.A.R.P.E.D. by Chris Caffery
Buy new: $31.99 / Used from: $59.98 Chris' post Savatage work includes the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and his solo discs. Chris handles lead vocal and guitar duties, along with studio musicians. The music is best described as traditional metal.
![]() | Pins and Needles by Chris Caffery
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $6.00 Pins and Needles is Chris' latest solo effort, along with a collaboration of guest musicians. There are a few of his TSO bandmates that participate in this release. He continues down the traditional metal route, which is a very good thing!
![]() | Global Warning by Jon Oliva's Pain
Buy new: $15.98 / Used from: $9.18 Global Warning is JOP's 4th and latest release. JOP has really released a diverse album this time around. The music ranges from classic Savatage to Jon's influences such as Kansas and the Beetles.
![]() | Delusions of Grandeur by Circle II Circle
Buy new: $34.98 / Used from: $9.50 Delusions of Grandeur is also CIIC's fourth effort, which came out mid 2008. This album finds CIIC going all out with the heavy factor. The consistency is here with this effort, but I recommend the first release, Watching In Silence, to the person looking to explore this band.
![]() | House of Insanity by Chris Caffery
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $11.99 The latest (2009) effort from Caffery. Here he's not quite as daring and sticks more to a straight forward, melodic metal approach. He does it very well! I hope he sticks with this type of sound too.
![]() | Machines of Grace by Machines of Grace
Buy new: $9.98 / Used from: $8.46 Zak Stevens and Jeff Plate were members of a band called, Wicked Witch, back in the 80's. They mainly toured the east coast, especially the Boston area. Machines of Grace is Wicked Witch material re-recorded, with modern production. It's straight forward, melodic hard rock. Good stuff!
![]() | Night Castle (2 CD) by Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $8.85 This is the latest, 2009, installment from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Nightcastle is the band's only second non-holiday album. With that said, they've re-recorded several Savatage tunes for this release. This has some Savatage fans upset! As for the rest of the material, it's much more of the same. It's not bad by any means, but no surprises either.
