Wonderfully Creepy5
I just recently heard about the post-metal genre of music, and while checking it out, I came across this band. I heard three of their songs and bought the album two days after first hearing about them. They are seriously a great band.

Probably the thing I like most about this album is that you can tell that Julie Christmas, the lead vocalist of this band, actually feels the songs she sings. A lot of bands just sing their songs, but Julie is able to put actual feeling behind her vocals. And after reading their MySpace biography, I can see why.

Sometimes (actually most of the time), this emotion brings about a really dark, creepy vibe to the album. Seriously, I listen to Avant-Garde Metal, which sounds like it was made by someone who was literally insane, but with this album, I actually feared for the mental wellbeing of the vocalist. I think this was most prevalent for me when they decided to add a 911 call to the end of "At the Base of the Giant's Throat." I watch horror movies without fear, but that audio clip honestly scared me.

That last paragraph may not sound like a good thing, but honestly, it's one of the reasons I like this album so much, because it's so creepy. Unfortunately, as I alluded to earlier, a couple of the band members went through an emotional hell while making this album. But it just makes me appreciate this album even more, because, as I said, you know that Julie actually feels these songs.

Anyway, I'll end by recommending that you check out their Myspace page, as you can hear a couple of their songs, as well as learning a little history about the band. I'll also recommend that you buy this album.

Quite simply ... A special album.5
I'm writing this because Julie Christmas is the first vocalist to impress me since Chris Cornell. While THE RUINER is a good CD, this one is something special. With overtones of grunge, this is a truely successful sludge album perfomed by a super-group of artists. Unique in many ways. If you're a fan of Neurot Recordings etc, you definitely need this. If it seems a bit odd at first, don't worry, it won't take long to grow on you.

Amazing, Interesting to listen to.......mmmmmmmm5
I love the red sparrows and I read about this album in revolver magazine because it was in like the top 10 albums of the year. So I bought it. Its F&^##kin amazing. The vocalist does some amazing, original things, which pretty much just seems like it flowed right out of her and she didn't put too much thought into it, and it turned out perfect. Some of the most emotionally heavy stuff I have listened to in awhile.
