The Arts & Crafts movement that burgeoned at the beginning of the 20th century is being revived and incorporated into residential architecture, and the finest of these homes are presented in New Arts & Crafts Houses.
Whether reflecting the precedents of such diverse turn-of-the-century architects as Gustav Stickley and the Greene Bros. in the United States or William Morris and C.F. Voysey in England, the new Arts & Crafts houses incorporate similar notions of harmony, individualism, cohesive décor, and simplicity of style that have strong appeal to today's architects and homeowners. The 20 houses in this book illustrate, through full-color photography and detailed floor and site plans, the range of new Arts & Crafts architecture, from contemporary bungalow vacation homes to larger residences.
Readers interested in Arts & Crafts design will discover why the styles and features of this early 20th century artistic and philosophical movement are timeless -- and how today's architects and designers are using them to enhance contemporary residences.

Customer Reviews
Very worthwhile
I completely agree with reviewer Topper. Good variety of recently built Arts and Crafts houses. Great book if you are planning to build a custom house. Quality more than quantity with many interior and exterior pictures of every house. Basic plans and architectural drawings included as well.
Good idea book...
As an admirer of the Arts & Crafts style in architecture, I bought this to give me some ideas about ways to build a new house with A&C features. While I've seen plenty of period bungalows, I want something with a more contemporary feeling, good details, etc., yet something with the A&C feel. I've found this a very useful source for ways to do this, the range of A&C styles featured is very interesting. I think it is a good source of ideas.
Poor Printing Quality
I just received this book and am very disappointed with the quality of the printing. Many of the interior and exterior photos are either low-resolution pushed up in scale or out of focus to begin with. The print colors too are quite poor. It's a real shame as the content itself has potential. In books such as this it is the image that takes precedent over the text and someone certainly dropped the ball in the proof-approval process!
