Great Graphics
The Good: One of the best pictorials I have seen on the muscular system. I really like the way the author separates and groups the muscles. Great for learning and relearning your muscle anatomy.
The Bad: I found a couple of mislabeled muscles in the spine and forearm. I sent an email to confirm this with Bandha Yoga but have no heard back. I use Netter as a reference among other text books.
a yogini and anatomy buff
Wow. This book is awesome. I am a yoga teacher and I teach anatomy to students in a yoga teacher training program, and this book will help me do both better. Really clear pictures and explanations. Includes bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, movement, organs, breath, chakras, bandhas, and of course asana. Expensive though, and Amazon doesn't carry it. Will have to search around for the best price. I borrowed one from a fellow yoga teacher and am on a quest to find one for myself.
The Secret to an A + in Anatomy !
I highly recommend a visit to www.bandhayoga.com
for a preview of the 650 amazing full color illustrations and sample chapters in this book. Author Ray Long MD, FRCSC, is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who has studied yoga for over twenty years, training extensively with B.K.S. Iyengar and other leading yoga masters. While I have several other highly recommended and complimentary books on yoga and anatomy, this colorful, dramatic guide to the major muscles stretched and strengthened in yoga postures, brings it all-together!
