Customer Reviews

Fairly easy to install, lacking range3
I installed this starter myself in a 2006 Hyundai Tucson. The instructions were fairly easy to follow. I found a wiring diagram on their web site for my vehicle, but it wasn't complete. I couldn't figure out the locks or headlights, so I left those disconnected. It's hard to find wiring information on my vehicle, so I don't blame their product. The range of the remote isn't as good as advertised, even with fresh batteries. That's my only disappointment and why I gave it 3 stars.

nice remote starter5
Installed this on a 2006 Honda Element, would have been much easier if I had not done it in the middle of winter. Good instructions, they even provided a knife and tape to make your splices. I should have used "scotch lock" wire taps on the smaller, low current wires like the dome light and door locks. Tach connection not used. Note: Honda dealer wanted $150 for another key to put in the by-pass module, I used the valet key that came with the car. Cut off the key part so no one can steal the car with that key!

Could not get it to work1
Purchased the RS/1200E for my daughter's 97 Honda Civic. Installation
took about 5 hours. I took my time and had to go back to their Web
site a few times to get things like a wiring diagram for the car,
instructions on how to take the unit out of safety mode (not mentioned
in the manual), etc. The unit didn't respond to either remote and
would not drop out of safety mode. Talked to tech support. Tried the
things they suggested. Nothing seemed to help. Fiddled with the
antenna wire while pressing Start and the unit suddenly went out of
safety mode. Then it wouldn't start. After again fiddling with the
antenna and pressing Start many times it suddenly did start. Tech
support said it couldn't be the antenna. You wouldn't even need the
antenna with the remote close to the unit (it was). Sent the unit and
2 remotes back with a note explaining the issue. Returned the same
unit 3 weeks later. No indication anything was tested but I had to
assume it was. Hooked it up. No go. Did the 3 step "Testing Remote
Starter Output Harness" and eveything worked perfectly. Was told to
touch a blue wire to ground and car should start. It did. Touch it
again and it should shut off. It did. Told to reset the E-PROM on
the unit. I did. Now it's back in safety mode and I can't get it
out. Got an RMA to get my money back.
