Great Monitor
I had a little trouble getting my system to recognize it when first set up...but after a little tweaking, it works beautifully. Previously owned regular CRT...what an improvement! Superb clarity and brightness. For the money you just can't go wrong with this one.

Good But Not Perfect
I bought this monitor as part of a package deal offered by Amazon. For the price it does a good job. It arrived in perfect condition, and assembled, and installed without problem. There have been some random pixel problems, but they seem to be transient in nature.

Screen resolution is very limited. I have an HP LCD monitor on another computer which allows a range of resolution settings without distortion. This ACER will distort the image if one strays too far from the native resolution. For example, if you need larger fonts and images to see satisfactorly, this monitor will not allow one to adjust resolution to accomodate viewing size without distorting the image. If this is not a problem, the monitor, otherwise, does it's job well. Viewing angle is typical for a LCD.

After around 33 months of use the AL 1706 has died, it will not power up or display an image. At first the start-up time gradually increased until the last episode it took over and hour and a half to finally dispaly the desktop.

I have contacted Acer and followed all of their suggestions to no avail so they have authorized its return as the warranty doesn't expire until next year.Now I have encountered another problem with it; I can't get the base to come off for return to Acer.

The User Manual says to "Pull the 4 hooks on bottom side of the base and hold. 3. Separate the monitor and base and put them into carton."

That all sounds simple enough until one examines the bottom of the base and there is nothing there which can be pulled. I've tried screwdrivers, pliers, and finger pressure all without removing anything.

I've now emailed Acer asking them for suggestions as to how to proceed.

As things progress, I'll try and update this entry.

For the record, until it stopped working it was doing a good job.

VERRY HAPPY
I have only had this monitor for a couple of day's
but I am verry happy with it. It came well packaged and you cant beat the price. I shopped around and this was the one for me.
I dont know about the other review but with in 5 min of opening the box I was using the monitor and it worked verry well!!
