Help for parents & foster parents of kids with attachment issues.
I have fostered and adopted an 8 yr old girl who experienced trauma within her birth home and has attachment issues. This DVD was recommended by my daughter's therapist and was an invaluable tool to use with friends, family members, and babysitters. It is vitally important to have people around you who understand and support the parenting style you utilize for special needs children. After watching the video my mother realized she could not be the indulgent, coddling grandmother she wanted to be without undermining all the work I was doing to help my daughter move through her trauma and change her unhealthy behavior patterns. I gave this dvd 4 stars because it is one of the only videos out there that speaks to what people outside the immediate family can do to help parents of children like mine. The only negatives are that Nancy Thomas meanders through her delivery of the content and some of the points are not driven home hard enough. If Nancy would have worked with a professional on the layout of the content I would have given this 5 stars.
