Product Description

Cunninghams classic introduction to Wicca is about how to live life magically, spiritually, and wholly attuned with nature. It is a book of sense and common sense, not only about magick, but about religion and one of the most critical issues of today: how to achieve the much needed and wholesome relationship with our Earth. Cunningham presents Wicca as it is today: a gentle, Earth-oriented religion dedicated to the Goddess and God. Wicca also includes Scott Cunninghams own Book of Shadows and updated appendices of periodicals and occult suppliers.

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner is the essential primer from one of the best known authors on Wicca. Focusing on the importance of individualism in your spiritual path, Cunningham explains the very basics of Sabbats (holy days), ceremonies, altars, and other nuts and bolts of Wicca that a solitary practitioner may have trouble finding elsewhere. While Wicca shouldn't be your sole point of reference when considering Wicca as your way of life, it is one of the best starting points. --Brian Patterson

This is the Beginning...4
A great beginners guide to those starting out in Wicca or Paganism and serves as a very good refreshers course for those who have been practicing already. It's very informative and easy to understand; the author doesn't talk down to you and is very easy to get along with. The first section deals with the God and Goddess, the tools used, alter preparations, preparations of the circle, of the body, the uses of music, dance and gesture during a ritual. The second part goes though magical exercises and rituals, a self dedication and a design for it. The third part of the book is the author's Book of Shadows (a magical journal). It is used as an example of what you can do with yours and includes a section on herbal magic, crystal magic, seasonal festivals, recipes and a section on magic done with runes.

This is one of the first books I got when I started getting back into Wicca. I asked around in an online group I'm in and quite a bit of the people recommended Scott Cunningham's work. I used to have several of his books before hand and I get the feeling that they would now make a lot more sense if I had gotten this one first and read it before them.

Excellent introduction to Wicca for newbies!5
I am new to Wicca and I had no idea what exactly it was and was intimated by other books which seemed so complex. However, Scott's book is phenomenal in giving a clear cut view of what Wicca is and how to start a practice on your own. I come from a Catholic background however, I have always been fascinated by magic and by nature as well. I knew that there was a more to it.

This book has taught me a lot!! I read it in less than a week!!

This must be read by every Wiccan5
The reason this book is so important is not because of the information it contains, but because of its historical significance to Wicca. This book provides a firm dividing line between Traditional Wicca, and what is called by some NeoWicca. As any student of Wicca should know, Wicca is a well defined religion with a very specific God and Goddess, specific rituals, and specific mysteries that are explored. Even the novice can learn this by reading Gerald Gardner's books and the books of most other Wiccan authors through the early 80's. Cunningham's Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner changed the perception of Wicca to an eclectic, individualistic form of spirituality.
