Product Description

Did you know...that the thickness of the layers in a locally grown onion will indicate the severity of the coming winter? Magic is all around us. All we need is the ability to see it, understand it, and apply it. Natural Magic allows us to do just that. Doreen Valiente shows how to tap the magic of: Herbs and flowers; Amulets and talismans; Water, Air, Earth, and Fire; Card reading; Numbers and colors; Weather predicting; Love relationships; Dreams; Birds and animals; Traditional Spells...and much more. "Natural Magic", essentially a practical treatise revealing the magic inherent in human life and nature, shows that magic can be for everyone.

Unsatisfactory...1
I recently became interested in magick studies but hopes of acquiring valuable information from this book were in vain. For starters, this book is poorly written; the thoughts expressed by the author lack cohesion and credibility; I got the impression that the author isn't well versed in the study of magic. Furthermore, her discourse on natural magic was insubstantially weak. For example, old English riddles were the main tenets in regards to her essay on weather predicting; no tangible research for the reasons behind magic in weather predicting was expounded. But what was most disconcerting to me was a passage at the end of her book on magic spells(that wasn't the shocking part). What really got me is her following quoute, "I have tried to select those which seemed comparitively harmless, or at any rate not too objectionable to modern standards; so that if any reader cares to try some of them out, not too much damage is likely to result. Not having tried these old spells personally, however, I must point out that the responsibility is the reader's and that I quote them(the spells) only as curios of ancient belief." Ignorance and blatant stupidity are the thoughts that first came to mind after reading that passage. Thank you, amazon.ca, for your flexible return policy on books.

Natural Magic....a gift from a true great author4
There isnt a bad word i can really think of about Doreen. Her books are informative and very, very useful. However, there are some things i agree and some things that i dont. But, with the book Natural Magic is from the heart of this great and very well missed author who went to Summerland not to long ago. I miss her, cause i know that there wont be another like her. I highly recommend this book on your shelf!.

Entertaining and informative5
I aquired this book used years ago, and I devoured it in one sitting, and find myself referring back to it often.
