Fun and educational too!
My son was asking why he could not get his moon sand wet. I started thinking and I remembered space sand from when I was a kid. I had forgotten the name but I remembered how cool I had thought this product was. I had forgetten the name but finally found it here.
Space sand is just plain cool. Every child and most adults look stunned the first time they use it.
You fill a cup or clear container half way full of water and place the space sand in. The space sand sits in the water and you can mold it underwater. Then you take a spoon and remove the sand from the water and it is bone dry!
Space sand has alot more educational value then moon sand. every child I have had over that my son shows his space wants to know how it works. The kids are excited to learn about the scientific reasons behind the space staying dry. there are also other experiments like adding cooking oil to the water that case different reactions.
This product is a great way to get small children interested in chemistry.
the one down side is it is weird to clean up. Since it does not bond with water, you can't just use a sponge if a little spills out. best clean up is to wait for the water to dry and just brush the sand back into the container dry.
I totally recommend this product. I have a autistic child that loves it, as well as a preschooler and every kid ages 4-15 that have seen it are all interested in it.
