Product Description

Enjoy a wide-field window into the heavens served up by Stratus eyepieces. With an apparent field of 68-deg -- which translates to a 71% greater viewing area than that of a typical Plossl -- Stratus eyepieces quite literally put more stars in your eyes. In the same way you feel more a part of the action watching a big-screen TV, with Stratus you will feel like you are really experiencing your celestial targets, rather than just viewing them from afar. Each ocular features a monster 1-1/4"-diameter eye lens to look into. Each also has a generous 20mm of eye relief, so you'll get the "big picture" even if you wear eyeglasses. The optics are fully multi-coated to maximize light transmission to your eyes, and the lens edges are blackened to ensure excellent contrast. Stratus eyepieces fit in both 1.25" and 2" focusers. Each is threaded for filters and comes with protective lens caps.

Customer Reviews

My go-to eyepiece5
Purchased the 17mm and 8mm Stratus eyepieces to go along with my new 10" reflector and am glad I did. The 17mm is in the focuser more than any other eyepiece I own. The FOV is wide enough to cruise with and the eye relief is VERY comfortable, and forgiving. My first look at M13 had me talking to myself. Be aware though that this is a big eyepiece almost the size and weight of a full can of soda. Highly recommended.

Favorite Eyepiece!5
I purchased this eyepiece because I needed a big viewing area that didn't stress my eye. I was not disappointed, and this product has become my favorite eyepiece. During astronomy classes and club meetings, I've used it with great joy in an Orion ShortTube 80 Telescope, an Orion 6 inch SkyQuest Dob, an Orion AstroView 100mm Scope, and an Orion 8 inch SkyQuest Dob.

You can truly grab an amazing view of the sky with this eye piece, and it is much better than Plossel / standard eyepieces that you get when you purchase telescopes.
