Album Description
Christian music's favorite songwriting duo, Shane & Shane releases its first-ever Christmas record, Glory In The Highest (A Christmas Record) this holiday season. Recorded at Shane & Shane's Spaceway Studios, the album, produced by Jason Hoard (Fee), also marks the twosome's mix and engineering debut. Containing 11 total songs with a jazzy country/gospel flare, the project includes eight classic Christmas favorites like "Away in a Manger," "Silent Night," "O Little Town of Bethlehem," and "O Holy Night," as well as three orginal songs. Special guest Bethany Dillon performs background vocals on several tracks.
Customer Reviews
just okay
The best part about this cd is the album art. Not the greatest compliment for a music cd... Now, I really do like these guys. They have talent and I enjoy their music. However, I was a bit disappointed in this album. On just about every song I had the same thought, "they are trying too hard." Yeah, you need to make familiar songs your own, but it's possible to overdo it. So like I said: Just Okay.
Splendid Christmas Music by Dynamic Duo
I was skeptical to buy this CD last year but took a chance since the one I got was autographed by the artists and only cost $10. It was the best investment I made all winter! It's not a lengthy CD, a quick listen, and tracks 9 & 10 are actually tied together, very cleverly, and suitable for church worship. I loved the CD, the harmonies, the 'feeling' (it was worshipful, fun, and had that Christmas feeling to it), everything. Shane & Shane are great!
Not the best Shane & Shane, but still one of my favorites
I got this album a few weeks before Christmas, and it was definitely worth the $10. When I say it's not the best Shane & Shane album, I mean that I'm not listening to it on a regular basis as I am with the others [most notably Clean and Evening with Shane & Shane]. However, their versions of Christmas tunes are fresh and new. O Holy Night and O Come O Come Emmanuel are the best renditions I've heard and these I do listen to regularly.
However, it's not to say that all the songs are great. Their style gets muddled with Christmas-folk, with makes it seem that they're trying something that they're not used to.
Overall, great CD.
