Product Description

If you sell things online, you already know how important pictures are. They are the only way your customer has confidence to buy.

Whether you sell at eBay or on your website, better pictures attract more customers! This handbook will teach you how to take great pictures -- without spending a fortune!

This handbook includes highlighted tips on how to save money and take better pictures, as well as over 50 color pictures of equipment, techniques, and examples. Keep this handbook with your camera and refer to it when you need ideas or inspiration on your next pictures.

It is organized so you can quickly find the answers to your questions. You don't have to read the whole book -- you just find what you need and get going. There is a "Troubleshooting Guide" to help you correct problems you are having, a "Final Checklist" to ensure that you are ready to sell, and even a "Glossary" of photography and computer terms.

You don't have to be a professional photographer or a computer geek to create great images for your auctions. Rod writes in non-technical language and teaches you what you need in the section called "Computer jargon you will need." At last, you can take the mystery out of "jaypegs" and pixels!

If you don't have a camera or don't like the one you have, this handbook will teach you what features you need and which ones you don't. The camera the author actually used costs about $200, but he shows you how to be successful, whether your camera cost less or much more.

If you don't already have the equipment you need, Rod will show you how to buy it or make it for almost nothing. For example, did you know that for about $25 you could build your own table-top studio with tools like the professionals use: a seamless background, light booms for front, side, and backlighting, diffusers and reflectors for diffuse and indirect lighting? Add a couple of full-spectrum light bulbs with fixtures for another $20 and you have a great, complete studio for photographing things up to 2 feet in size.

Rod will teach you how to prepare your images for use on eBay so you have eye-catching thumbnails and fast-loading, high quality images. You will finally understand what you need to know about image formats, compression, image quality and more.

About the Author
When Rod and a few friends started BuyArtisans (to sell the work of fine artisans), they thought it would be easy to learn how to photograph the work of their artisans and create images that worked online. They thought there would be lots of good books and web sites to tell them what to do.

There weren't!

Rod is not a professional photographer and he was certainly not an expert on managing digital images. As he worked, he kept a collection of notes on what worked and what didn't. Lighting, digital cameras, backgrounds. How to work with images on the computer. How to make compelling little thumbnail images. How to select and buy a good used digital camera. Eventually, these notes became a handbook and the handbook became a book that is now in its fourth revision.

Rod believes that anyone can take great pictures for selling online, and he wrote the book to show others how.

Rod bought his first Nikon camera in 1976 to photograph the natural beauty of the Marshall Islands. He has been an avid amateur photographer ever since. Today, he focuses on digital photography for the Internet.

Taking Great Pictures for eBay Auctions and Online Selling5
As I read this book, I felt like the author and I were having a conversation. Unlike most photography books which are full of technical mumbo-jumbo, this one was easy to understand and fun to read. I was worried that I would have to spend a lot to take good pictures, but I bought a used camera and discovered that was all the equipment I needed!

Using this book, I can now create eye-catching images. I learned how to use my digital camera and how to work with the pictures, including how to create great thumbnails for eBay. Now I enjoy using my digital camera for taking pictures of everything and emailing them to my friends -- no more complaints about HUGE pictures that take forever to show up! The "Troubleshooting Guide" is great. If a picture doesn't come out right, I look there first.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to take digital pictures and use them online.

Great pictures make the sale and this book shows you how!5
I have a eBay store selling fashion jewelries and my customers love what we offer. Well, just like what our customers tell us, our product look even more beautiful in person, or better than pictured. That makes me wonder how I can take better pictures. I bought this book and was amazed how simple and inexpensive to set up a at-home studio and begin to take great pictures. All the great ideas that the author shared in his book are very practical and easy to follow. This is type of book that you want to read if you are looking for tips, not from a professional photographer but more like from a friend who has figured things out and willing to show you how.
