From the Manufacturer
The Home Cafe system is made up of revolutionary appliances with pressure-brewing technology and easy-to-use coffee pods. Like a one-cup coffeehouse, the Home Cafe system delivers fresh, delicious coffee--one cup at a time, and in about a minute.
Unlike standard drip coffeemakers, the Home Cafe uses pressure brewing to bring out the full flavor of the coffee bean. Pressure brewing forces hot water through ground coffee beans at high pressure, rather than slowly dripping through--the same technique coffeehouses use to make cappuccinos, lattes, and mochas. The Home Cafe system's pressure-brewing extracts a delicious cup of coffee from every pod, thanks to unique coffee blends and pods designed specifically for the Home Cafe system. You get a single serving of premium coffee sealed inside its own filter, for first-cup freshness every time. And each cup only takes about a minute to brew--less time than it takes to go out for a cup of coffee.
How it works:
- Fill the reservoir with cold water; use fresh, cold water for a great-tasting cup of coffee
- Place the coffee pod in the appliance tray; use two coffee pods for an extra-strong brew
- Close the lid and place your mug under the spout; the locking handle must be locked to operate the appliance
- Press the "brew" button; brews in about one minute
Features:
- Appliance tray makes for easy cleanup
- Locking handle locks the pod in place for brewing
- 38-ounce reservoir capacity
- Mug reservoir can be removed to make room for a travel mug
- Control panel for choosing your coffee's size. Coffee can be brewed in 7-ounce, 9-ounce, or 14-ounce cups.

Not so Hot!
Literally, your coffee will not be very hot w/this machine. I have to reheat in the microwave to be decent. And no frothy top like the Senseo, which I also have. But, hey, I got this one on sale for $8 - and now I know why LOL! My husband will use it for the to-go mug feature.
You pay more for the Senseo, but hands down you will get a better machine and an awesome cuppa joe with it.
I'm shocked to...
see so many negative reports. I've had mine for over 4yrs....the only problem I had at the begining was that I removed the water tank to refill it and it leaked after I put it back in-but that was my fault for not pushing it down far enough. After that I don't remove it,I refilled it w/ a pitcher and it's never leaked again. I think this is a design flaw--they should've made it that the tank wasn't removable. I have a friend who loved mine and so got one of her own. Hers died after only a few months-the element wouldn't heat-up. But she loved it so much she bought another one and has had it now for 2 yrs. She's had no problem w/ it and she drinks several cups a day. And she doesn't remove the tank either.
As far as the taste: I use my every day and buy some rather expensive pods but have never experienced any plastic or "off" taste from my machine.
And w/ regards to those who complain that they have a difficult time closing it. I don't understand that. It's easy, hold the top down and pull the leaver towards you...I can do it w/ one hand.
For those who are interested in buying one you need to remember that these like all machines are mass-produced and there's bound to be some coming off the factory line that are not right-bad element, tubing not secure, bad seal, etc. If you do get one..DO NOT REMOVE THE TANK. Fill it and run it through several times w/ out any pods to rinse it out.
I will tell you that if mine died today I'd be right here on Amazon ordering another one, I wouldn't think twice about it...I guess it's one of those things: You really love or you really hate it.
DOESN'T WORK RIGHT!
I USED THE COFFEE POT FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. WAS FINE; WASHED THE POD HOLDERS EACH TIME THEY WERE USED. I ONLY MADE 1 (SOMETIMES 2) CUPS OF COFFEE EACH DAY; APPROX THE 12TH/14TH TIME I WENT TO USE IT...IT HAD STOPPED WORKING. NO IDEA WHY? THE 14OZ AND "CREAMERY" LIGHT WENT ON AND STAYED ON., EVEN THOUGH I PRESSED THE 9 OZ LIGHT. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. STAY AWAY FROM THE B&D SINGLE CUP...GET SENSEO INSTEAD!
