Product Description

The award-winning author of Dark Corner, Thunderland, and Within the Shadows, Brandon Massey delivers a chilling supernatural thriller of the ties that bind—and dark secrets written in the blood. . .

Good fortune has smiled upon Gabriel Reid since the day he was born. Blessed with a loving family, educated in the finest schools, he holds a senior position in his father’s successful construction business in Atlanta. Engaged to a smart, beautiful woman and standing to inherit the CEO mantle, Gabriel’s got it all. But he’s about to meet someone who could change everything...

Raised on the mean streets of Chicago, Isaiah Battle refused to succumb to the violence that claimed others in his neighborhood. He’s forged his own identity from various influences, relying on his strength of character in the face of adversity. He also relies on another kind of strength—and few who have witnessed Isaiah wield his dark power have survived to tell the tale. . .

Now Isaiah has come to Atlanta to claim his birthright—as Gabriel’s half-brother from their father’s extramarital affair. The news threatens to tear the Reid family apart as they struggle to accept the stranger among them. But Isaiah, talented in ways no one ever imagined, wants much more than acceptance. He wants what he believes is rightfully his: everything Gabriel has. And he’ll let nothing stand in his way. . .

The Apple Doesn't Fall Too Far4
Two brothers raised in totally opposite environments, add to adage, is it your environment or your genetics that makes the person you are, or is it a combination of both? Gabriel Reid was born into a world of privilege in Atlanta - the best neighborhoods, the best schools, the best restaurants and a prestigious position waiting for him upon graduation. His polar opposite is his brother Isaiah, born as the result of an affair and raised in poverty in Chicago. As a teen and adult, Isaiah did several stints in prison and was recently released after serving five years. What Isaiah wants is what he believes is rightfully his, everything that Gabriel has. Oh, but there is more and with The Other Brother, Brandon Massey delivers.

Featured as a thriller mixed with acts of paranormal, The Other Brother pits the two brothers and their father, T. J. Reid, in a race against time and forces unseen. There are many attributes to this novel and just when you believe you know the driving force, Massey throws another wrench in the mix, which leaves your mouth agape!

The characters play their roles dutifully throughout, adjusting with the events around them and back again. The acts and drama detailed and the descriptions of the surroundings are vivid. The author goes one step further by adding social commentary amidst wealth and behavior and the fact that wealth is not synonymous with the measure of a man. This is my first read by Brandon Massey and I will gladly read another by this talented author.

Caught Off Guard5
"The Other Brother" was my first venture into the mastermind of Brandon Massey and I LOVED it. Isaiah Battle plots revenge on his wealthy estranged father and his father's family. I followed along behind Isaiah as he reaked havoc on his father's family and pissed me off at every turn. I'm thinking, "This dude is evil incarnate," and I was steadfastly rooting for the "good guys" to win. However, by the time I made it to the end of the book (and I hated for it to end) I had to ask myself, "What just happened here?" Just when I thought I had a hold on what was going down, Massey made a liar out of me. Massey packed "The Other Brother" full of surprising twists and turns and had me sitting on the edge of my seat throughout the entire novel. I knew that when I impulsively threw the book in my purse to cart to work with me that I was irrevocably hooked. I couldn't let it loose until I had turned the last page! The ending was surprising, horrifying, tear-jerking and shocking. I will definitely be adding Massey to my list of must-read authors.
