Customer Reviews

Very good, for the price5
I bought these to replace a full hood for periodic welding tasks, and I'm extremely pleased with them overall. I paid less than $10 with shipping, they were to me in a reasonable time, and they were pretty much exactly as described.

Pros: The flip-up outer lenses are extremely handy, much easier than my full hood. The lenses are mounted behind a simple retaining ring that required no special tools to remove, thus allowing me to swap out with other lenses of the appropriate size.

Cons: The clear inner lenses are cheap plastic and have an odd bevel along the edge that distorts your view.

I simply removed the inner elements. I'll be replacing them at some point with the glass from a pair of UV photography filters (such as Tiffen 52mm UV Protection Filter), since impact resistance is not a requirement. I haven't measured yet, but the lenses appear to be approximately 52mm.

In my opinion the price is definitely right on these goggles, and I surely recommend them.

Dr. Horrible gear anyone?5
OK...so they aren't silver. But they are cheap and the looked good during the Halloween charity screening of Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog.

Pay close attention to the color3
Beware! The showcase pictures led me to believe these goggles were blue, but that's only reflected light. The PVC frame is actually a dark green with a hint of teal. Very nice color, but not what I was expecting. (I'm putting together a costume that's predominately blue and thought these would enhance it; I bought these Hobart 770096 Welding Oxy-Acetylene - 50mm Eye Cup goggles a few months ago and will use those again instead.) They also don't lay like normal glasses, wanting instead to roll onto the lenses when they're placed on a flat surface. They're not as easy to see out of as the Hobart goggles either, clear and dark lenses both.

For the price, I will probably keep them; the flip feature is nice and there's definite modding potential. But I believe the pictures are a tiny bit deceptive and that there are better goggles out there.
