Healing Depression the Mind-Body Way shines a new light on the darkness of depression by presenting specific antidepression strategies designed to help you unleash your innate healing potential. The time-tested advice presented in this book is based on the latest theories of modern science and the practical wisdom of Ayurveda, an ancient system of natural medicine. This unique book offers a comprehensive step-by-step program for eradicating the root of depression from the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your being.

Through detailed questionnaires about your psycho-physiological profile and elemental imbalances, you will identify an archetype that most represents your experience with depression. Then, you will design a tailor-made health program to regain balance in your mind-body.

You will learn to undo depression by:

A Very Balanced View5
I guess if I had one word to describe this book on treating depression naturally, I would say it was balanced. It is based upon Ayurveda, which is a traditional mind-body medicine in India- the main theme here being that nature and the mind-body are aspects of a single continuum of intelligence. But whether you buy into that or not, it makes little difference, because the book has some great strategies for treating depression, addressing such issues as...

-meditation
-how you breathe
-exercise
-yoga
-sleep
-what you eat

As you can see, a lot of areas are covered, which are bound to help a lot of people. So, if you're looking for natural solutions for depression, I'd have to say that this is a very good place to start. For readers wanting to know more on how to specifically use exercise to treat their depression, I can also recommend Exercise Beats Depression as a good resource. Good Luck!

Most Practical Book in Ayurveda5
BRAVO to Dr. Nancy Liebler and Sandra Moss for the most practical, yet in-depth, how-to-book I have read on the application of natural healing modalities for depression. I especially appreciate the direct language used in explaining the application of Ayurveda for mental health. The authors did not insulate themselves through the language of Ayurveda, as so often I have seen in other books of that discipline, but wrote in undertandable language to make the book most readable for the general audience. As a Psychologist for almost 30 years, I can assure you this book is on the top of my list for recommended reading to my patients. It is one we all want to have on our coffee table as a constant reference.

living a better life5
As a therapist, I am always looking for books that will help my patients find new insights about themselves and better ways to deal with toxic stress in their lives. Dr. Nancy Liebler and Sandra Moss's book is an ideal resource. It is a very readable application of the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda medicine to the problem of depression. I found their delineation of the three types of depression and the subsequent discussion of particular healing approaches to each one, illuminating. Beyond that, the authors offer many extremely useful suggestions about ways to create inner peace and well being by integrating Yoga, proper breathing techniques, meditation and diet. This book is not only about healing depression, it is about living a better life!
