Editorial Reviews
From the Manufacturer
The SwaddleMe® provides the simplest way to swaddle with soft fabric wings that hug your baby close. A leg pouch pops down for quick diaper changes while leaving baby comfortably swaddled. As baby grows, wings adjust for a customized fit for your baby. Swaddling soothes infants by recreating the comforting snugness of the womb and new research shows that swaddling may help reduce the risk of SIDS by promoting better sleep when babies are on their backs. Pediatricians recommend swaddling to soothe and comfort newborns, helping them sleep better and also to help reduce colic. A percentage of each SwaddleMe® sold is donated to First Candle / SIDS Alliance to help babies survive and thrive.

Essential Baby Item
When my daughter was born, I didn't know about swaddling, and it would take me HOURS to get her to sleep! I would feed or rock her in my arms until she falls asleep, then put her in her crib... and she'd flail her arms, wake up and cry, and I had to start all over! What a nightmare!
Then I figured out that since her arms wake her, it would make sense to wrap her in something so she couldn't move them as much... so I started wrapping her in regular receiving blankets. It worked! It became much easier to get her to sleep. But then she wiggled out of those receiving blankets and wake up again.
When she was a little over a month old, somehow I came across SwaddleMe blankets on the Internet and immediately bought it. It worked like a charm! It was so easy to wrap my daughter in it, and it stayed put. My daughter started sleeping so much better!
I wish I found those blankets sooner - it would've saved me from so many sleepless nights!
2 years later, my son was born, and thankfully I already knew about those blankets from the start. He goes to sleep great in the SwaddleMe blanket! Out of curiosity, I tried to put him to sleep without this blanket, and his arms wake him right away - exactly the same as my daughter!
I consider this blanket one of the most important baby items you could buy. It should be a must for a new mother who wants to get some sleep!
Works ok for a while, but doesn't grow with your baby
The SwaddleMe blanket seems good in theory, and reasonably priced, but what makes it easy to use is also its design flaw. The velcro pads and length limit the use of this thing to after newborn until about 2.5 months for an average size baby. This may be ok for your baby, but I plan to swaddle my baby beyond this age.
I got this in a Small and it was HUGE on my 6lb newborn son. The velcro tabs extended way beyond the gripping pads and left his shoulders/arms all hanging out and loose. I would return to the crib to see the blanket had shimmied its way up and over his face. (Dangerous! I did not like that, and I almost ceased to use the blanket from that point forward...)
After a few weeks he grew into it and it worked fine, nice and snug, and baby slept well. Then at about 2.5 months, he grew to be average length/weight according to his pediatrician. In the SwaddleMe, his legs more than reached the bottom of the pouch and the velcro tabs didn't make it around his upper body. Also, the flannel has very little stretch.
Pros:
+ Works well for about 6 weeks or so
+ Light weight flannel
+ Only slightly easier than wrapping a baby with a competitive swaddling product or regular swaddling blanket
Cons:
- Not for small newborn babies or average to large 3 month olds
- Short-lived; it doesn't grow well with baby
- Velcro tabs kind of tricky to use; leaving the bottom tab secured seems to make it easier to use.
I recommend the Miracle Blanket instead if you want a "pre-swaddled" blanket. (Though I would say both the SwaddleMe and Miracle Blanket allow a lot of room in the leg pouch for kicking...) Or, the flat SwaddleDesigns ultimate receiving blanket instead.
Busting out!
This is a great product for a few weeks, then the velcro gets really weak and your child will be busting out! I go in to find my son with both arms out and one leg out. No matter how tight I make the blanket, the velcro comes apart. I encourage you to buy their other SwaddleMe blanket with the larger velcro flap.
