With this monitor you have several options because both the camera and receiver can operate on either AC or battery power. When your baby is sleeping in the nursery, you can use the AC adapter for the camera thereby saving battery life. If you are going to be working in only one room when the baby is sleeping, you can also use an AC adapter to power your receiver. For total battery operation, the receiver requires 5 AA rechargeable batteries (included) and the camera requires 6 AA alkaline or rechargeable batteries (not included).

LOVE IT EXCELLENT PRODUCT
We had a black and white monitor that was much bigger and bulkier and cost $100 before taxes. It died and in an effort to save money my wife and I settled for a $20 monitor for sound. We could hear when our baby was moving or would cry out but it didn't give us the peace of mind that we got from the video monitor. I found this one and bought it and now we aren't opening the door to peak in and check on the baby and waking her up earlier than we needed too.

NOT TO MENTION, with the RCA connectors you can watch the monitor on any television that has the red white and yellow video audio connectors, we do this when we're watching TV and we're able to switch to that input if we hear a sound and see what is going on.

I if you are creative enough you can record them with a VCR or DVD recorder. Hope this helps in your buying decision.

The Best Monitor
This is a wonderful monitor. I bought this after returning several to Babies R Us, this was by far the best one. The picture is clear, hardly ever have interference and the sound is crystal clear. I feel worry free when I can see my daughter and know if I really need to go in or if she is just fussing a little bit at night. I also think the price is affordable compared to the ones they sell at Babies R Us, and better quality too! It is small enough to carry around the house and easy enough to take outside with me as well. I really recommend it!

Great Product
This is a great product. Very easy to install and the quality of the image and sound is good. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is becuase the colors are not very good. It tends to go toward black and white quite often. But not a big deal, clear image, clear sound and a big screen. Good enough for us.
