Teacher Review
A toddler version of the popular marble maze for older children, Ball Party Bounce from Tomy includes a multicolored plastic tower constructed of six funnels and six equally colorful, patterned plastic balls. Youngsters from 9 to 36 months will require construction help but once it's built, they can enjoy dropping the 2-inch balls in the top and watching them roll through the openings until they hit the bottom. One diversion drops the ball from the top, bouncing it off a trampoline and into an opposing funnel. Hand-eye coordination and scientific concepts of gravity, momentum, force, and propulsion give this toy educational value. Sometimes the balls bounce out of the trays but chasing down balls is part of the fun for toddlers. Homemade towers with cardboard tubes and tunnels could also provide hours of cheaper educational entertainment but they wouldn't have the same snappy colors and the noise of plastic balls pinging merrily along. --Lair Showalter, mother and elementary school teacher

Fun for the right age
Our daughter didn't get this toy at first, but she really loves it now. She was about 19 months when we first got it, and just disassembled it as the other reviewers described. She actually had fun just doing that, so we went with it and let her have her fun. After about a month of that kind of play, all of the sudden, the lights went on, and she just loves bouncing the balls. She also likes to try bouncing other things, like the Little People characters, on the trampoline. She also has started to learn to assemble it. She was running by the time she got it, so she didn't pull herself up with it. I would probably put 18 months and up on this item. The toy works best when put on a hard surface, like a table top or wood/linoleum floor.
The Bounce Is The Best
My 2 year old daughter has had this toy since she was about 15 months old, and she continues to ask to play with it constantly. There are supposed to be 2 ways for the balls to get from the top of the tower to the bottom: the bouncy way and the zig-zag way. The bouncy way is great fun, but the zig-zag way has a design flaw that causes the balls to plop lamely from one ramp to the next. At this point she just likes rolling the balls all over the place and figuring out what ELSE she can fit down the funnels besides the six balls.
Although I sometimes cringe at setting this rather large toy up and taking it apart every 2 or 3 days, my daughter ADORES this toy. She even has nicknames for each of the six balls and pretends they are a family!
Everyone's favorite
I bought this for my son when he was about 10 months old and he loved it from the start. He could put the balls through the funnels right away and has had more fun just taking the pieces apart. During his 1st birthday this was the toy that all the children gravitated to, young and old. The day after his party, with all the new gifts laying around, this was still the toy he went to first. We love this toy and anytime anyone comes to our house this is the most popular toy!
