Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with Shoulder BagMedela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with Shoulder Bag
Buy new: $264.99
The whole breast pump thing is not a lot of fun, but this pump was great and efficient. Don't bother buying the pump based on the style of the bag b/c the bag is so ugly you'll never use it.
Easy Expression Hands Free Bustier Breast Pump Bra (Medium)Easy Expression Hands Free Bustier Breast Pump Bra (Medium)
Buy new: $27.23
I know this thing looks ridiculous, but it is an absolute ESSENTIAL if you are using the breast pump. This bra lets you pump "hands free" so you can read or do whatever instead of holding the bottle the whole time.
Elle Macpherson Intimates Maternelle No-wire drop cup braElle Macpherson Intimates Maternelle No-wire drop cup bra
Buy new: $43.12 - $55.00
This nursing bra is expensive but so well worth it. It is very functional and pretty at the same time, and holds up extremely well in the washer and dryer.
Gilligan & O'Malley® Women's Full Sling Nursing Tank - Ebony MGilligan & O'Malley® Women's Full Sling Nursing Tank - Ebony M
Buy new: $16.99
For the first month or two, I lived in nursing tanks and cardigan sweaters (easy access for feeding the baby). Don't bother with buying fancy tank tops--get a few inexpensive cotton ones in basic colors.
Lansinoh 20265 Disposable Nursing Pads, 60-Count Boxes (Pack of 3)Lansinoh 20265 Disposable Nursing Pads, 60-Count Boxes (Pack of 3)
Buy new: $19.50
If you are nursing, these are essential for the first few months. This brand was much better than some of the others that I tried.
Gerber 12-Pack Flatfold Birdseye Cloth Diapers - WhiteGerber 12-Pack Flatfold Birdseye Cloth Diapers - White
Buy new: $12.99
I use these cloth diapers as burp cloths. Friends will give you cute and stylish burp cloths, but you need so many and these are inexpensive and durable--and it won't matter if you lose them (it's the same mysterious force as losing socks).
Born Free BPA Free Wide Neck Bottles - 5-Ounce Twin PackBorn Free BPA Free Wide Neck Bottles - 5-Ounce Twin Pack
Buy new: $17.00
These Born Free bottles are great--they cut down on the air in the bottle which means less spitting up and upset stomachs. The 5 ounce bottle size is best for baby's first few months.
Born Free 9-Ounce Wide Neck BornFree Bottles Twin PackBorn Free 9-Ounce Wide Neck BornFree Bottles Twin Pack
Buy new: $17.00
The 9 ounce bottles are essential for when baby gets a bigger appetite and graduates to larger feedings (in the 4 to 5 month range). For Born Free bottles, the nipple size differs--Level 1 is for baby age 0 to 3 months, Level 2 is 3 to 6 months and Level 3 is 6+ months.
Similac Advance Ready to Feed Bottles, 2-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 48)Similac Advance Ready to Feed Bottles, 2-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 48)
Buy new: $45.99
When my son was born, he was jaundiced and the doctor recommended that he have some formula for the first week to make sure he was fully hydrated and to flush his system. The hospital gave us these 2 ounce bottles of formula which we then continued to use even while I was nursing. These are great for the first 4 to 6 weeks and really helped us during some nightime feedings.
Pampers Swaddlers, Size 1, Economy Plus Pack, 216 SwaddlersPampers Swaddlers, Size 1, Economy Plus Pack, 216 Swaddlers
Buy new: $39.99
I tried several different diaper brands, but Pampers Swaddlers was the best. For the early months (0 to 3 months) you will go through an absurd amount of diapers (10 to 12 changes a day) so you definitely want to buy in bulk.

Buy new: $48.99
These Huggies Overnites are expensive but my son--who now sleeps for 10 to 12 hour stretches--wears these at night. They do not leak and he has never had any sort of skin reaction to the diapers.
Pampers Baby Wipes Refills, Natural Aloe, Unscented, 770 WipesPampers Baby Wipes Refills, Natural Aloe, Unscented, 770 Wipes
Buy new: $24.65
You will go through millions of baby wipes, and these are sturdy without being dried out. I buy these in bulk and use the unscented version but I'm sure the scented kind is good too.
Skip Hop Via Messenger Diaper Bag BlackSkip Hop Via Messenger Diaper Bag Black
Buy new: $79.00
I was resistant to buying a diaper bag but it really is necessary. This is functional, simple and nice looking.
Halo Fleece SleepSack Swaddle Barnyard- NewbornHalo Fleece SleepSack Swaddle Barnyard- Newborn
Buy new: $19.99
This swaddle is genius. My son fought it at first but if you stick it out for a night or two it is truly a lifesaver. He ended up loving it and it truly helped him sleep, both at night and for naps. We used this until he was around 3 months old when he outgrew it.
Halo Cotton SleepSack - Barnyard PrintHalo Cotton SleepSack - Barnyard Print
Buy new: $19.99
Once my son outgrew the swaddle, we started using the Halo Sleepsack. This is a sleeveless zippered blanket that will not get tangled. I prefer the cotton version over the fleece kind.
Fisher-Price Papasan Cradle Swing - New Nature's TouchFisher-Price Papasan Cradle Swing - New Nature's Touch
My son loved this swing from a very early age--he started using it around one month old and was consistently in it until around 5 months when he began to outgrow it size-wise. He slept very soundly in it and it helped during the few weeks when he was hitting the witching house. Even though we live in a small apartment, this is well worth the space it takes up.
Fisher-Price Rainforest BouncerFisher-Price Rainforest Bouncer
Buy new: $45.99
My friend lent me this bouncy chair and it is amazing. My son was obsessed with it from about age 3 to 6 months. It keeps the baby entertained and in one place while you can easily keep an eye on him.

2008 Cameleon Single Stroller Base in Dark Blue with Dark Blue Canvas Fabric2008 Cameleon Single Stroller Base in Dark Blue with Dark Blue Canvas Fabric
Buy new: $979.00
If you live in a walking city like NYC, this stroller is amazing. It is a very smooth ride and adjusts into several different positions, which you can switch based on the baby's age and development. It's expensive but I have used it almost every day.
BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Original - City BlackBABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Original - City Black
Buy new: $58.00
I live in NYC and walk everywhere. My son is almost 20 pounds and I still use the Baby Bjorn. It is great if you need to go grocery shopping, etc.--easier to use than a stroller for those errands.
