Free standard shipping - This is a vivid demonstration of the power of REDOX reactions. A reactant is sprayed on a "colorless" paper that has been pre-treated with two different chemicals - as a result, the paper develops colors. The day before performing this demonstration, two potassium solutions are applied to a filter paper with a paintbrush. The paper is allowed to dry overnight. The next day, the filter paper is sprayed with iron(III) chloride solution and students are instructed to note the formation of colors. This demonstration provides insight into how to test for iron(II) and iron(III) ions in solution. A fume hood must be used with this demonstration. Includes: iron(III) chloride solution, potassium thiocyanate solution, potassium ferrocyanide solution, instructions. Required but not included: filter paper or other absorbant paper, small paintbrush, spray bottle.
