When your baby latches onto and suckles a Second Nature Nipple, the membrane flexes, opening up many small holes which allow milk to flow. The stronger your baby suckles, the more the membrane flexes, the larger the holes become and the more the flow increases. This allows your baby to be in control! When your baby stops suckling, the holes close and immediately the flow stops. These nipples work with the Second Nature Bottles.

Unique Product that Simulates Breastfeeding
This nipple, which delivers milk or formula much like a watering can (and many women's breasts), requires the baby to use similar sucking power to get the milk out as with the breast. It was a lifesaver for me when our son was still breastfeeding and yet needed supplemental formula. Other nipples I tried that focused on keeping latch, for instance, did not work at all to discourage laziness. Our son could go from this nipple on a competitor's standard bottle to my breast without loosing his nursing skills. The nipple also seems to deliver milk at a natural (or at least slower) flow rate, which may help reduce reflux.
