Customer Reviews

Works great!5
I've used these little guys several years and they're as functional as they are cute! No messy bubble-overs and quite a conversation piece at the table. Try using a mini cookie cutter to make the hole. The other reviewer would do well to remember that the purpose of a review is to rate the product, not the shipping or packing.

Clever little birdies5
Shades of my Scottish grandmum's kitchen, pie birds! I hadn't thought of these in years until I saw Alton Brown using them. Alton can be a bit dogmatic but he was right on target about these. Embedded in the middle of the pie through a small hole in the crust, they effectively prevent boil-overs and, hence, oven cleaning. The glaze is smooth and completely covers the bird. They clean easily with a (gentle) toss into the dishwasher. And they really work!

Oh man this so beats a piece of aluminum foil5
Up to now I have had to do the cuts in the crust or a piece of foil shaped into a cone. I really hate the mess you get with cuts and I hate to put foil in contact with food after hearing it is linked to alzheimers. After seeing these little birdies used on the Food Network I had to have it. They work great. No mess and you get to explain what a Pie Bird is. LOL. I have been baking for a long time and never seen or heard of them befor FN demo'd it. Great Idea.
