Playstation 3 40GBPlaystation 3 40GB

First things first, the system of course. Unfortunately, it isn't backwards compatible with the fantastic PlayStation 2 library, so I suggest hanging on to your PS2. On the positive side, it doubles as a DVD upconverter/Blu-Ray player.
Playstation 3 HDMI CablePlaystation 3 HDMI Cable
Buy new: $23.99
It doesn't matter which HDMI cable for the PS3 your choose...just do not go the composite (red/white/yellow) or component (blue/green/red) route when it comes to this system. It is capable of 1080p upscaling, why hook this up to a standard television via cables meant for the original PlayStation?
Playstation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless ControllerPlaystation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller
Buy new: Too low to display / Used from: $44.01
If you are one of those picky gamers who is still complaining Sony didn't include its classic rumbling DualShock controller with the system...purchase this. It doesn't bother me one bit whether I'm using the non-rumbling Sixaxis, or the rumbling Dualshock 3. As long as the thing works.
Resistance: Fall Of ManResistance: Fall Of Man
Buy new: $59.99 / Used from: $30.00
Sony's exclusive that resembles everything a FPS needs to succeed. Tight controls, ideas from other successes (Microsoft's infamous "Halo") in a typical "historical war meets alien." As bland as this sounds, the game is very entertaining and definitely satisfies. It was made by Insomniac, the people who brought us "Ratchet and Clank." Proof enough?
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Game of the Year EditionElder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition
Buy new: $59.99 / Used from: $53.99
A multiplatform release, packed with even more to keep you sucked into this fake RPG reality. Point is, PS3 owners: we don't have a "Mass Effect." This is as close as we are going to get, and it is absolutely fantastic.
Uncharted: Drake's FortuneUncharted: Drake's Fortune
Buy new: $59.99 / Used from: $39.75
"Tomb Raider" meets "Gears of War" and transports you into an "Indiana Jones" film. Um...add to cart? One of the best exclusives for the system, hands down. Even if adventures arent your thing, use this as a showcase for you shiny PlayStation 3. The visuals are near perfect. It is an experience like no other.
