I have had these on my racks since 1991 and I think they work great. According to the mfg you are supposed to throw the strap under the load then over the top, backward from normal thinking, which can make it awkward to get a large load strapped down. Also a small crank handle might make re-rolling the strap easier than the little knob is to use. The little metal bar that's included makes it easy to really crank down and pull the load tight. I have never had a load slip out. But after 16 years of hard use I need to replace the straps. I have no reservations about recommending them.
