The Gel Cell battery is similar to the AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery in that its contents are sealed, but different because technically the AGM battery is still considered to be a wet cell. The guts of a Gel Cell contain a silica additive that causes it to set up or stiffen, first like Jell-O, then after subsequent discharge/charge cycles more like peanut brittle. Micro-cracks form in this gelled electrolyte that provide paths for the oxygen recombination reactions between the positive and negative plates. The recharge voltages on this type of cell are lower than the other styles of lead acid battery making it probably the most sensitive cell in terms of adverse reactions to over-voltage charging, and thus needing special care. Gel Cell Software Model 012-0156
This is a GEL cell battery charger only. The model for AGA, SLA, Flooded, Conventional Automotive and Motorcyle batteries is Model 012-0128. This unit will only work on cars and equipment using GEL (e.g. the BMW xi series automobiles).

I have had good luck with the other 6 we own so have to have another ....
I guess you would say we have to many play toys.. also have 5 of the smaller
ones for the quads and motorcycles... Great Choice!

Nothing better on the market
This unit is everything the company says it is. Surely you have heard people talk about a "battery tender". Well, this is it! A very good model that does everything most people would expect. I have two of these units now, mounted on a single shelf and ready to be plugged into our Harleys when the weather turns to yuck. They will take good care of our babies until the snow melts and we can ride again! Just buy one!
