Customer Reviews

Mediocre charger with a deceptive display. Batteries not "Ready-to-Use"2
The display of this Digipower DPS-6000 Endure Series Rapid Battery Charger looks very impressive. It has a large LCD screen with blue backlight. On the screen are four battery-shaped indictors, with three bars in each battery symbol. This design is similar to those found in advanced chargers such as Sony BCG-34HRMF4 and Targus TG-LCD2700. Naturally, this would imply the DPS-600 also has four independent battery status monitors, right? Wrong!

The first thing I found out after receiving this charger is: it does NOT charge cells individually. That is, it can only charge cells in pairs. This is very inconvenient when you have appliances that require odd number of cells. Furthermore, if two cells in a pair have unequal capacities to start with, then one of them will not be fully recharged.

The next thing I found out is: those 'status indicators' do NOT actually reflect the status of the cells. When you insert two cells into the two left slots, for example, the two left 'status indicators' simply start flashing from zero to three bars and circle back. Those bars do not grow taller as battery voltages grow higher, so they cannot provide "accurate charging gauge" as claimed. In fact, they are not any more meaningful than a single blinking LED light, as found in cheaper chargers.

The 'Endure Series 1' batteries are supposed to be "Pre-Charged and Ready to Use". However, one cell arrived completely dead, and the other three cells retained only 1/3 of their full charge capacity. Base on those signs, I highly suspect that they are just ordinary NiMH marketed as 'low-self-discharge' cells. (I am in the middle of a long-term storage test, in order to verify my suspicion)

I will write off this order as 'lesson learned', and be skeptical about Digipower products in the future. You should too - if you value your time and money.
