Weaker season, still amazing blu ray5
Though I've never been a huge fan of the third season, I must say that watching them in beautiful blu ray really makes it an entertaining experience. The transfer, like the previous seasons, continues to impress. You can tell whoever worked on the show really loved what they were doing when they made the blu ray, as it looks spectacular. In fact, its so clear, little nuances can be notice that weren't seen before, details in aliens skin, or special effects that were little more than blurry are now easy to see, and so clear you'll never want to stop watching.

As to the season, it was pretty evident that budget cuts had severly limited certain episodes, but were still largely good. What makes up for the clunkers (spock's brain comes to mind) are the amazing special features, which include no less than three versions of "The Cage" and a never-before-seen variation on "Where No Man Has Gone Before." Even if you have reservations for getting the "weaker" star trek season, the gorgeous picture, the great special features make it a must have for any star trek fan. If you have the first two seasons, you owe it to yourself to add this to your collection. Highly Recomended

Star Trek TOS Season 3 - Review5
I have read many pages about people debating here at Amazon as to whether are not a review is valid before the product is officially released. I must say that a good number of reviews (that include product spec and contents) before the product comes out is very helpful to me so I can make a wise purchase. I do not intend on purchasing blu-rays to replace all my dvds; however, there are always exceptions to the rule and this set is one of them. The website listed below should be helpful to those deciding on whether or not to purchase. Of course, if your a Star Trek fan the price is right and it's a "no brainer".

Thanks to CBS/Paramount for readjusting the prices on all of the Star Trek DVDs / Blu-rays and making it afforable hopefully to most all Star Trek fans. I hope that the way these 3 seasons were done is a prelude to the way the other series will be released on blu-ray.

For those that are interested in wanting an early review of the product. Check the review for this set on "The Digital Bits" website. Today is December 2 and they have a detailed review.

I gave them 5 stars for the way the sets are presented and all of the extras that come with the set. There are a handful of indivudual stand out episodes in this season and I look forward to watching them on beautiful 1080p glory along with the masterful job they did with the audio. The fact that you can watch these shows in either the normal, enhanced, or both versions if one so chooses is another compliment to those resposible to brigning this set to Blu-ray. To borrow a quote "fascinating".

These ARE the voyages5
It's all about the original series - this is Star Trek, everything else - even good stuff like Next Gen or DS9 is basically good fan fiction!

There are episodes among the classic 79 that don't work but this show is more than the sum of it's parts and I can't think of one show from the sixties, with the exception of the Twilight Zone, that is just as brilliant, insightful, and entertaining as Star Trek.

The Blu-Rays are terrific and the price is amazing - it's taken many years for Paramount to do right by Star Trek fans, and these season sets have been well produced and very affordable - this is a must own for any Star Trek fan or anyone who enjoys classic TV.
