Two guides on the attachment to keep the bit centered between the tiles. Large window for excellent visibility. Customer Reviews
Great attachment
I bought this attachment to finish cleaning the grout out of my tub/shower. I had done some of it by hand, but with my bad wrist, it was too much. I actually didn't use the bit that came with the kit, I bought 6 bits from leakyshower.com, for the price of one dremel bit, and only needed to use one to do the entire job. I had heard that the bit that comes with this attachment breaks easily, so I didn't bother to try it. I just bought the bits from Leakyshower.com.
Save $10 and just buy the bit
The attachment doesn't keep the bit centered and won't work near corners. The housing has two tabs that are supposed to guide the bit along the grout line. The problem is that the housing is made of cheap plastic so when you tighten it it distorts and causes the bit to be off center. This is only good for very small jobs and they tend to be near corners, so for get this tool. I found that I could easily complete the job freehand. So just buy the bit size that you need and save $10 (or $15 in some stores).
Dremel Grout Removal Kit When Doing A Floor
This works OK for a small floor area only such as 1 or a few tiles at most. Due to hardness of the grout the bit will definately break ([price] to replace)after about 10 mins or less of use. Dremel is aware of this issue and doesn't recommend this kit for more then a small area. Walls are OK if the grout is a softer or vinyl enhanced grout. If you do use this, stop frequently to allow the bit to cool and you may be able to get the bit to last a bit longer.
For floors, use a Dremel with a Carbide Cutter Bit (the one with a star pattern and pointed) and this bit will last forever. Use w/o the Dremel kit and be carefull at the corners of the tiles as this bit will cut into the tile if you don't keep it moving through the intersections. The point allows you to get the grout out of small areas or large.
Note that everyone whom has done grout work on a floor has tried it and quickly broken the bit which comes with the kit. It's easily returned broken though where you purchased it. Dremel's customer service says to return it to them if there's an issue with the store. The realize that the packaging is a bit misleading in regards to the kit's capabilities.
