Coccyx Cushion - Tailbone Cushion The Visco Memory Foam Coccyx Cushion is made of high quality standard density memory foam (3.5lb) and helps relieve back pain by reducing the pressure on the spine and coccyx. The temperature-sensitive coccyx pillow foam interacts with body heat to gently mold to your shape and provides customized comfort. The cut-out section eliminates painful pressure on the tailbone. Sloping wedge shape helps correctly align spine and tilts the pelvis forward to restore the natural lumbar curve, a position often recommended by doctors to provide maximum comfort and relief. Can be used with almost any seat: Car seat, Office chair, Home.....virtually anywhere. Coccyx (tailbone) bone pain can come from local trauma or childbirth. A fall on the tailbone can stress the ligaments or injure the attachment to the sacrum. In a significant percentage of tailbone pain the cause is unknown (always check with your doctor for diagnosis and proper care). Individuals with tailbone or coccyx pain (Coccydynia) often find sitting is the most aggravating position. Many tailbone pain sufferers find the most comfortable cushion is the type with a cut-out at the back, underneath the coccyx so that no direct pressure is placed on the coccyx. What is memory foam? Visco-elastic memory foam was originally developed by NASA and used on space shuttles to relieve pressure on astronauts caused by G-Forces during take off. It is several times denser than regular polyurethane foams, is temperature sensitive and always recovers to original shape. It is also called slow-recovery foam (see picture). Due to its distinctive property in relieving pressure, memory foam has been developed into many products such as pillows, toppers, wedges, supports, etc., to benefit millions of consumers worldwide. What benefits does memory foam offer? Memory foam offers the following benefits that, in combination, provides the ultimate stress and pressure relieving support: Memory foam has higher

Customer Reviews
DO NOT buy into the hype!!!
I am shocked and saddened to say that this cushion is absolutely useless. Given that almost every single review for the product on Amazon was overwhelmingly positive I hoped it would provide some relief (Not to mention be worth the ridiculous $35 price tag - PLUS $9 for shipping!?), but that is NOT the case AT ALL. Besides the fact that it's overpriced no matter what, this is NOT a "firm" cushion in any way, and immediately gives way under your weight (I am about 5'11" and only weigh 164 lbs. so I am certainly NOT huge by any means). So, it's not very comfortable as a result, and I don't think I even sat on the thing for but 15 - 20 minutes before I couldn't stand it anymore. I totally feel like I wasted my money, and quite a bit of it... There may be a ton of glowing reviews for this product here, but I can't fathom why, and would STRONGLY encourage you to try another product before this one (though sadly I have nothing better to recommend)!
It's great.
I've had this cushion for a few days and I've used it everywhere. At work, on the train, the bench at a softball field and at school (they have metal chairs). I noticed while sitting in class for over an hour that I didn't cross my legs or figit around in the seat. A teacher tried and was also impressed. I love this cushion, and I would recommend it to anyone who has problems with their sit bones and any muscles around them. Defintely worth the money.
A good product
I bought this because of my broken coccyx. Before it, I tried on a "Tush Cush" and an inflatable ring. The inflatable ring is totally useless for me: (i) the 16" diameter is too small for an average adult so that you cannot stably sit in it especially when driving; (ii) when sitting in it, the inside circle of the ring is pressed down, causing the outside circle to squeeze your buttock, making my pain worse. The "Tush Cush" is made of soft foam, so the second problem with the ring still exists. So my experience is that you want to choose a cushion made of firm (if not hard) material. The memory foam that this product is made of is a right material: it is firm, yet slowly mold to your shape. However, sitting for a relatively long time, 30 min in my case, will make noticible pain. So my advice is to try to stand as often as you can if you have a broken coccyx like me.
