Amazon.com Review
Churchill, a British producer of tableware for more than 200 years, has thoughtfully created a pattern specifically for the celebration of the most food-focused of American family holidays--Thanksgiving--with a design transfer-printed from an early American copperplate engraving. The Thanksgiving Turkey tea pot is meant to be integrated with other matching pieces into a festive Thanksgiving table display. It's large enough to hold 6 cups of tea or coffee, hot beverages that traditionally make a satisfying end to a famously rich holiday meal. More highly ornamented than other Thanksgiving Turkey pieces with fluting and decorative flourishes, the tea pot has an air of formality about it.
The turkey featured in the Churchill Thanksgiving Turkey design is highly detailed, as if from an antique natural history engraving; the bird stands in full-tailed display amid a cluster of ferns on two sides of the tea pot. The lid and upper rim of the tea pot feature equally detailed drawings of forest flora: blackberries, acorns, oak leaves, and simple wild rose blossoms. The color palette includes soft blues, reds, golds, and greens in the muted tones of a hand-tinted photograph. The Churchill Thanksgiving Turkey pattern offers a wide range of matching pieces such as basic 5-piece place settings, napkin rings, a soup tureen, a cookie jar, and a creamer and covered sugar bowl, as well as other individual setting pieces.
The tea pot's spout can be sealed with a removable rubber cap that helps retain heat while tea is steeping. Churchill earthenware is safe for use in the microwave and freezer; remove the rubber spout cap before exposing tea pot to either temperature extreme. Churchill pieces are also dishwasher safe; when hand washing, avoid abrasive cleansers and scourers. The Churchill Thanksgiving Turkey tea pot measures 5-1/2 by 6 by 9-1/2 inches, and is 7 inches tall when the lid is on. --Garland Withers
Customer Reviews
It's a teapot, but not perfect
The teapot does not look like the one on the website. The decal is smaller, and not centered on the pot. I ordered one made in England, but received one made in Columbia. It was also supposed to have a rubber stopper to help keep the tea warm, but it didn't have one. The company it came from was very nice when I spoke with them about the problems. Overall, the teapot is fine, just not what I ordered in the way of appearance.
Thanksgiving Tea Pot
Nice Thanksgiving themed tea pot - a little expensive for the relatively small size, but it is the first Thanksgiving tea pot I found that didn't have some large, garish cartoon like turkey on it.
