If Bare doesn't work for you, try Alima
I've been using a variety of Bare Escentuals products for a couple of years. It doesn't give me the flawless look that a lot of people seem to get from it. But, bare minerals seemed like a better option over liquid foundations. I have very sensitive skin and luckily bare didn't make me break out like a lot of people did because of one of the ingredients (bismuth oxychloride) that they use. But the coverage, for me, is poor. About 30 minutes after I put Bare Escentuals on my face, it is very shiny and most of the makeup has faded and I find that the mineral veil just makes my face look shinier. Bare also doesn't have a shade that matches my skin tone. I'm fair/light with pink undertones, not yellow.

I was reading through the reviews for Bare Escentuals and came across a review that suggested using Alima mineral foundation instead since they do not use bismuth oxychloride in their foundations. I went to their website and looked at all of their products. I was very happy to see that they had 60 different shades of foundation. I also was glad to see that they sold samples of not only their foundation, but their primer, balancing powder, concealer, and finishing powders. They also have samples of their lip and eye makeups. (There's about two weeks worth of foundation in the mini sample jars). They processed and shipped my order quickly and within a few days I had my samples. I actually found a foundation that matched my skin tone, the primer helped keep away the shine, and the balancing powder really did help balance the look of my skin tone. I wore the makeup for hours and it stayed. I recommend you click the find your perfect color link when looking at their foundation shades to help you find a shade that will match your skin tone.

I recently compared all of my mineral makeups and was surprised how strange bare minerals looked compared to my urban decay mineral makeup (which is actually a pretty good mineral foundation) and Alima mineral foundation, which seems to have the best ingredients. Bare was the only "shiny" one, urban decay has a little "glitter" but it blends better than bare and the color is truer to my skin tone and Alima blends well too.

A lot of people love Bare Escentuals foundation though, so I suggest researching mineral foundations to find out which will work best for you. It was just nice for me to find another option.

Great Product!
I have been using this product exclusively since 2003. It goes on very light yet provides good coverage. I have very oily skin and I have not had to reapply, even after a workout. Prior to using mineral foundation, I used Estee Lauder's "Camouflage" foundation and Bare Escentuals coverage is just as good. Liquid foundation tends to settle in around the wrinkles, hence making us appear older.

To the women who used Bare Escentuals and claimed it made them look older - they probably have very dry skin or used a shade that was too light, or applied too much. I have recommended this product to all of my friends and they love it, too. I am completely sold on the mineral foundation! I would never use the liquid type again.
