Product Description

Monitor your exposure to the sun's rays with this new, unique product. Automatically computes and counts down recommended safe sun exposure times based on applied SPF and skin type. Reminds you when to reapply sun screen based on your skin type and SPF. The three line LCD readout shows the current time in either a 12 or 24 hour setting, the UV Index, and temperature at the unit's current location. Uses the UV monitor index developed by the National Weather Service and the Environmental Protection Agency. The UV index ranks ultraviolet radiation levels on a 1 - 11+ scale to help determine appropriate sun-protective actions. The higher the UV Index, the stronger the sun's impact on exposure times and the greater the need to protect the skin from the sun's rays. The UV bar graph on the monitor displays the current UV level. The unit provides you with an Estimated Exposure Timer by activating the UV monitor and inputting your skin type and the SPF of the sun screen, the unit will calculate the correct amount of time until it is time to reapply the sunscreen. Great for working in the garden, attending sporting events, going to the pool or just enjoying your yard!

Customer Reviews

buyer be aware1
I purchased two and thought it would be a good addition in my car and my wife's car. Plus, this little device should have been a great companion for our outdoor activities. Sadly, none of them is working as advertised. Here are the problems:

The temperature display on one of the device constantly shows the digit "5". The other one could display "0" or "5", so I know one of the two is faulty.

The second problem, the U.V. monitor simply don't work. I have tested my two devices in various location and it's always showing "0.0" as if there were no U.V. sensor at all. I havn't being able to see the sensor bar display either. I don't know if it's because the device failed to detect the U.V., or that there's even a bar implemented on the display.

The third problem, ok, I thought, I might still be able to use the temperature gauge, but no. The only way I could observe a correct temperature is when I place the device in a location under the shadow and without interruption for 20-30 minutes. A simple hand touching or sunlight directly on top of it would almost immediately alter the display.

I wish there were reviews available about this product when I made the purchase so that I wouldn't have to be feeling compelled to write one today.

Useful but limited.3
Interesting device, with which we were able to evaluate various glasses for UV protection, but ultimately disappointing:
1) Did not seem to register in cold weather. Is there really so little UV from sun low in sky? Or is it non-functional when cold?
2) Gives just a relative rating (1-5), not a value. The scientist in me would like a value.
3) We contacted company with questions, but they never responded.
