The "Belize Bible" is a Better Title
I got this book on a reccomendation from the Toucan Trail, A budget traveler's online guide to Belize. I have to say that this is the most comprehensive guide for vacationers that I have ever seen. I had to wait a while for the most receent edition, but it was worth it. Topics that hadn't even occured to me to research are included here (thank gawd!). The book even covers traveling into Guatemala to vist the ruins at Tikal. If you only buy one guide for your trip to Belize, this should be the one.
Book came out in Oct 2007, half these reviews (specifically the bad ones) were written before that!
Just wanted to point that out! Obviously the reviews must be talking about previous editions. The maps, locations and reviews are accurate in this edition.
Disappointing & Inaccurate Hotel Descriptions
This is my first time purchasing a "rough guide" book. Our travel group had several different books and was consistently disappointed by the inaccurate descriptions of hotels. For instance, one hotel was located RIGHT on the airport runway at one of the islands - without mention from the book. The location of hotels and destinations near those hotels was also WAY off - specifically in San Pedro. Luckily, we had two other guide books to reference.
I judged the book by it's cover and pictures and regret it. I will not use this book series again.
