Gr 6-8-This is a complicated but absorbing tale of a teen with ESP who may be a Grail Keeper from the time of King Arthur. Felicity Jones is in England with her mother, who is on sabbatical to pursue intensive research into the Arthurian legend. There is speculation that Glastonbury Tor might really be Avalon, where Arthur was taken to die. In a conversational tone and with the acknowledgment that her experiences might be hard to believe, Felicity tells her strange adventure with time travel and how she learns of her powers from Morgan le Fey. The modern teen is a believable character, and her amazement at the discovery of her special talents rings true. However, sometimes the shifts between the present and the past and the interactions with characters from the Arthurian legends are contrived and confusing. A secure familiarity with the tales will make the novel more accessible. Hill tries to parallel characters in the present with those from the legend as, for example, the present-day evil Mordraut carries out the same mission to destroy goodness as Mordred does. This story will appeal mainly to fans of fantasy and Arthurian legend.

From Booklist
Gr. 7-10. Unlike her mother, an Arthurian scholar, 16-year-old Felicity doesn't believe in fairy tales, and she can't see what's so special about Glastonbury Tor. But while visiting the tor, she discovers an ability to "see" into an alternate world where fact, fiction, legend, and reality blur. Soon Felicity is entangled in an age-old struggle and learns that she is destined to protect legend and lives. Combining mystery, myth, and magic, this light, lively read features a likable if sometimes frustratingly naive protagonist, whose chatty narrative, by turns humorous and melodramatic (occasionally raising serious concerns), keeps the story entertaining despite some plot contrivances and stereotype. Kids familiar with the legend will get more from the book's puns and references, but readers who like the idea of old tales redone will find this involving reading. A solid bibliography for kids who want to read more about Arthur is appended. Shelle Rosenfeld

About the Author
Pamela Smith Hill grew up in Springfield, Missouri, on a steady diet of Bible stories and old TV westerns. Maybe that's why she likes to write about the past. Or maybe it was Jo March in Little Women. Pamela's first real job was as a newspaper staff writer on an old fashioned Society page. She wrote about weddings and Girl Scout jamborees and old ladies who carved little statues out of gourds. Then she moved to South Dakota, where the job market for Society page writers was pretty slim. So she began a career in advertising and public relations. Over the next twenty years, she wrote about everything from Mount Rushmore to Water Piks, Navajo rugs to basketball shoes. Along the way, she lived in Kansas, Colorado, and Oregon. Then in 1994, she left the corporate world behind and started writing books for young adults. Ghost Horses was published two years later. She continues to write Young Adult fiction. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with a pair of devoted and lively flat-coated retrievers. Her husband Richard died of prostate cancer in 2005; their daughter is a mathematician who lives and works in Portland.

Wonderful Concept
On the surface this is a typical YA fantasy. A teen with strange powers grows into them and becomes a highly significant figure as a result. What's interesting is that in this book the threat which the heroine struggles against is no less than the vanishing of imagination. I like the author's audacity which is especially well demonstrated in the villain's activities. This is a very fresh approach.
The Lost Grail
The Last Grail Keeper was written by Pamla Smith Hill. Felicity came upon a great and powerful legend and she couldn't hold this power(Felicity a character). I thought the most unusual part of this story was when Morgan le Fay brought Felicity back to the King Author time. Felicity was in a long black hall. Felicity keep walking thorough this long black hall. Until she saw light. it was a fire, she saw some of the people she knew. Mostly the setting takes place in present day Glastonbury England. Most of the main character were Felicity her self, Felicity mom, and Miss Nimute. the story is told mostly by Felicity her self. By changing history the Holy Grail is in the future. which it should be in the past. A part of the story that was a theme was, Felicity had to bring the holy Grail in time. Reading this book was confusing but after reading for time it starts to make sense, that's why I say this book was enjoyable book, to read about the Grail.
Twenty-First Century Grail
The Last Grail Keeper by Pamela Smith Hill is an exciting adventure book told by an average twenty-first-century girl, Felicity Jones.Although she doesn't know it, Felicity is part of a long family line known as the Grail Keepers. This is a family of women who are destined to protect the Holy Grail. Now, the Grail may fall into the wrong hands and Felicity realizes that she must save it. With a little help from the past, she might be able to pull it off. This was an awsome book1 It is appropriate for anybody of any age who wants to learn a little more about King Arthur or just wants to enjoy a great book!
