Please read the terms & conditions. There is even a plain English Summary that is easy to read and understand. You'll find it at the top of the page. It's a 3-year plan. Your plan begins on the date you purchased your item and is inclusive of the manufacturer warranty. If you have an issue and are covered by the manufacturer at that time, you'll be directed to the manufacturer first. Your item must have been bought on Amazon.
