100% Accurate Everytime
Took me almost an hour of looking at all the different digital scales and reading all the feedback in order to make an important purchase. On most of the digital scales the feedback was overwhelmingly negative. Didnt matter what brand or the price, most complained about inaccurate readings especially when taking the first reading and then 30 seconds later the second reading would be off by 3-5 pounds. Finaly I remembered the brand that is used for the big scale in my doctors office which was Health o Meter. But that scale starts at 200 bucks and would take up a lot of space in my home. I was thinking of getting one if thats what it took to get an accurate reading. I mean reading all the negative feedback on most of the digital scales had me thinking its the year 2006 and no company can make a real digital scale that is just as accurate as the ones we find in our doctors office that is affordable! I searched again looking specifically for scales made by Health o Meter and found this one. There was no review but decided to spend the money and give it a try knowing that Health o Meter is a respected and reliable brand. It is 100% accurate everytime. I lucked out to take a gamble in spending 64 bucks with free shipping and got exactly what I was looking for. Very easy to use. Just step on, wait 5-10 seconds and it will give you your weight. Step off and try it again. Walla! Same reading. Took this with me to see my doctor and weighed myself with his huge Health o Meter scale and then weighed myself with this digital scale AND GOT THE SAME WEIGHT NUMBER!!! My doctor was very impressed and wanted to know the model number so he can recommend this to his patients that need to watch their weight. After this I knew I had to write a review for all of those who wasted their money in buying unreliable crap. Please take my word when I say this is the best digital scale.

good scale except for its absolute calibration
The scale has a precision of 0.2 lb with easy-to-read digits. At first it seemed very impressive that the scale gave exactly the same reading every time I stepped on and off. Then I grabbed a 1.5 lb weight, stepped on, and got the same reading! Apparently, the scale has a memory to make it seem more repeatable than it really is. There seem to be two ways to reset the memory -- wait at least about 45 seconds, or change your weight by at least about 2.5 pounds. The memory is a minor annoyance, but it's not a problem for normal scale use.

Once I understood the memory problem, I took a series of ten readings to measure repeatability. The standard deviation is about 0.30 lb, with a range (maximum minus minimum) of 0.8 lb. This seems acceptable.

For absolute accuracy, I compared it to the scale at my doctor's office. The Health-O-Meter 849KL scale reads about 3 pounds too high, which is a 1.3% error. One can always mentally correct the reading, but an error over 1% on a digital scale seems excessive.

Note that most digital scales need to be used on a hard uncarpeted surface.

My scale is accurate to .1 lb. I weighed 161.4 lbs on the Health-O-Meter Model 849KL. Then I went straight to the grocery store that has one of those BIG stand-up commercial Toledo scales. It also measured 161.4 lbs.
This scale is useful in meauring your weight during the day and I was surprised how much it varied after eating, exercising, change of wearing apparel, bathroom duties and so forth. How durable it is remains to be seen.
