Very clean, dressy, technical looking MEN'S watch
First things first: I know this is (well, was, as it's now discontinued) sold as a Women's watch, but honestly I just don't see it. In fact, with its large size, dark colors, bold simplicity, high-tech looking minute-markers, and lack of any bling whatsoever, I find it quite the contrary. Even the plain, rectangular hands scream phallus. Frankly, it's a man's watch and it would look silly on every woman I know. But hey, free country; if you're a woman and it's your style, don't let me stop you. Just sayin'
Anyway, I got this watch for Christmas and I love it! I've already described the look - a look I like very much - so I'll skip past to functionality.
The running second hand is the *bottom sub-dial*, meaning that the main second hand is only used for the chronograph function. This is typical among chronograph watches and if you really can't stand it, just start the stopwatch and let it run. Also, the running second hand is hacking, for those that truly care. Date can be set by pulling the pull the crown out half-way. It wasn't immediately obvious to me that there even WAS a half-way, as there's no click or indicator that it's in the position. Pulling it out all the way makes a clear click and allows you to set the time as expected. Chronometer zero (12:00) position can be adjusted while in time-setting mode by repeatedly pressing the top button (really only needed if the battery dies while the stopwatch is running - when power is restored, it'll think the current position in 12:00).
The watch seems sturdy enough, and though I have no idea what the crystal is made of (I assume mineral) it's already held up unscathed to what would have been a couple scratches from a caliper accident. The bracelet is a little squeaky, though I'm assuming it'll wear itself in.
My ONLY complaint is sizing. The pins in the bracelet were EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to remove. If you're having it sized this is nothing to worry about, but if you plan to size it yourself, be warned.
Measurements (taken personally using Washington calipers):
Diameter: 38mm
Diameter (with crown): 40.64mm
Thickness: 10mm (exact)
Band width: 18.28mm
Band thickness: 3.8mm
So that's pretty much it. I absolutely love the look of this watch, with the 12:00 and 6:00 highlights breaking up the boring 3-dial look and the thin bezel complimenting the clean, sharp look. Pay no attention to Fossil, this is a Men's watch.
Hot watch !!!
This watch is very versatile. The brown IP color goes with everything. The oversized face is just right.
