Excellent work seat for working in the yard/garden
I was looking for a utility seat that rolls in the garden. I bought this specifically for my father who cannot walk.
This seat weighs about 15 lbs (by feel) and has pneumatic tires and glossy 'John Deer Green' paint. The seat swivels and can be adjusted for height. A small carrying tray can carry up to 5 lbs. This is a solid work seat unlike the plastic 'utility carts' than have small plastic wheels which are difficult to pull. You have to pump up the tires with a conventional pump. This has Schrader valves.
Assembly was relatively straightforward taking about 25 minutes. You need a wrench, plyers, screwdriver and Phillips screwdriver. You have to attach the wheels to the axels, the tray to the base, and the seat to the post.
The chair is stable and well balanced however, there is no back support. The wheels go easily on concrete and with relative ease on grass (we have St. Augustine Grass). Unfortunately, there is no steering capabilities, it only goes straight. Storage will allow for small tools like a small shovel, gloves, or other small tool.
Overall, this is a great work seat for those, without a major disability. My father will be able to use this but will need some assistance; however, it beats trying to track his wheelchair through the yard/garden. You would have to see if this seat works for you and the context by which you work. It may not be for everyone but it is the sturdiest and most stable of all of the different garden seats that I have seen on the market.
Great Garden Seat
Well, I got this for my husband Dennis who planted over 50 tomato plants on our small 1/2 acre residential property...otherwise he'd be kneeling while picking heirloom tomates. It was easy to put together, it's sturdy and capable of maneuvering the small aisles between the raised beds...a great invention and well worth the price!
