Customer Reviews

I'll never use my gas grill again !5
I purchased this grill last week...It went together quickly & easily, Keep in mind the photos in the instructions are a little one dimensional but with a little common sense you should have it together in no time. I've been shopping around for a grill of this caliber for some time and didn't really like the quality I was seeing in the stores. This unit has a much heavier build than what was out in the stores for about a 30 dollar difference. I followed the curing instructions the mfg said to do that night and then used the grill the next day. I smoked 3 FULL Racks of baby backs with coal the coal grate in a lowered position with a mesquite chip and lump charcoal fire along with a tin filled with mesquite chips soaking in water. After 1-1/2 hours I raised the coal grate and flashed the ribs to the coals for the final cooking. Man did they taste great, juicy and smoke flavored.
The next night I grilled 2 Rib Eyes using a similar mixture of coal & mesquite and wow ! The steaks came out great. I can only imagine what this thing is capable of doing once I really get the hang of it.

Very easy to get to the coals via the two large front doors. The ash collection tray on the bottom makes cleaning a snap.

I do wish 2 things:
1) It had a shelf in front to rest buns, plates, etc.
2) That it be American Made... I'm thinking after all the research about Libmann USA being one of the oldest American Grill Companies, etc., that I was doing my part and buying American... Well Guess what... MADE IN CHINA... LOL

Anyway it's a killer grill, looks great in the backyard and can't wait to
cook away.

I highly recommend.

Heavy Built, Good Design and Large Cooking Surface5
Heavy Built, Good Design and Large Cooking Surface. You can heat your coals as fast as you want by lighting and burning some wood chips below your coals on the bottom tray. Use a little starter fluid on both the coals and the wood chips. I can get good hot coals going in less than ten minutes using this method. The cooking area is large, way big enough for a family. Only problems was that one side of the unit was dinged up from shipping and we had to pound out some dings on the right side of the cook box.

Black Dog Rocks5
This is a serious grill. I had bought a Royal Oak 500+ square inch grill earlier in the week. Then I found this one for the same price. (took the RO back to Wally World)First off the Black Dog 28 weighs 50 lbs more than the Royal Oak. It is made from much heavier metal. Should last a long time. I really like the full front access doors I can dump a whole chimney of charcoal onto the grate a lot easier than the RO. It holds temp very well. It has a numbered temp gauge instead of the colored one on the RO. The only thing I liked more about the RO was the vents in the lower part of grill (4 total) I highly recommend this grill even if it cost more it should outlast any similar type grill.
