Customer Reviews

Necessary component, but could be designed better4
The Roadmate I received from another Web-based company wouldn't stay energized due to a faulty cradle power plug. When I couldn't get in contact with customer support I ordered this replacement. It works flawlessly! My only complaint is that the power plug doesn't seem any better bolstered than the original, and I hold my breath everytime the powercord puts any stress on the plug, for fear that it may break again.

Not a good design overall - external antenna not hook up to the cradle3
The design of the cradle is needed to improve. The external antenna is not hooked up to the cradle but instead you need to connect the external antenna to the GPS unit. It is a bad design for those users who want to remove the GPS unit from the cradle whenever they park their cars.

Works well5
I have this product and find it works well. I don't have the external antenna (the previous reviewer commented on this) so it isn't a problem. We've used the Magellan to get from Oregon to Connecticut in a 26' Rider truck and never needed the external antenna so not sure of the benefit we would get from it. We are able to easily remove the Magellan from the cradle to store the actual GPS and are looking at purchasing a 2nd cradle and windshield mount to help even more. This way, we will only have to move the GPS and power cord between vehicles. We don't know how we found our way around before the Magellan!
